Lisburn City Archery Club

Lisburn City Archery Club Indoor
Sept - April - Thursday - Lisburn Leisureplex - 8.00 to 10.00 pm
Outdoor
May- August - Tuesda All abilities welcome.

We are currently based in Lisburn leisure centre, we meet on Thursday night from 8-10pm from September to April. From April through august we meet on a Wednesday night at Lisburn Rugby Football Club from 7. We run 2 to 3 beginner’s courses, which aim to introduce archery. The end goal of the course is that an individual has enough knowledge that if they wanted to join the club they could do so, th

ey would be able to set up the bow themselves, shoot, keep score and most importantly be safe. Courses cost £30 for the 6 weeks, if you join after then there is a slight reduction in the yearly membership fees (which we pay to our governing body to cover insurance). Members also pay a nightly fee which covers the cost of hall hire this is generally £3-4 adults and junior fees differ we also offer family rates. You do not need to bring anything for the course as equipment is supplied, but when you would join the club you would have to purchase your own equipment, we can direct you to the best places and prices and help you decide what kit is right for you. The club is a mixed club with senior and junior members; we take new members from the age of 8, and try to cater for all abilities. We run various coaching through the year to help members improve, this is almost always on a 1:1 basis. We are happy to encourage all abilities, many of our members enjoy the social aspect of shooting, others are more competitive and we have members who shoot for NI on Senior and Junior squads. Our outdoor season is generally from Easter (weather dependant) we meet at Lisburn Rugby Football Club (near Sainsburys) on a Wednesday night from about 6:30/7 pm, if it is wet we have the use of the club house where we can do various workshops and help members tune and look after their bow. As a club we run 2 open competitions in the year one in September and one in July these are open to all archers of any ability. We also take part in the annual country Sports Fair held in Moira Domains, where we run a ‘have a go’ to let members of the public try archery. Archery is a great sport for those wanting a bit of fun or serious compeition,as all levels are catered for!
