Back in the water after what has felt like an eternity. Shoulder seems to be going the right way to recovery but this was definitely a shock to the system. Loch Lomond at 4 degrees is beautiful but bracing.

A question I get asked a lot about Open Water Coaching is "Do you coach kids too?"

The answer is yes. There are a few things I ask before you decide to put your kid into open water lessons.

1, might sound obvious but can they swim? Ideally would need to be able to swim 100m without stopping.

2, must be wearing a wetsuit. It is cold and little ones get colder quicker than adults. Plus, as a Safeguarding Issue any swimmers under 16 must wear one and be accompanied by their parent or adult responsible for them.

3, bring goggles, warm loose clothing, a sugary snack for afterwards and a warm drink.

4, any medical issues MUST BE DISCLOSED before entering the water. I will email Parental forms beforehand.

5, I have a minimum age start at 10. Although during the summer months I do a beach safety session for kids aged 8+
