🏆⚽️ Ballynahinch Youth Tournament – Bowl Winners! ⚽️🏆
What a fantastic day for the Lisburn Rangers 2015 Colts at the Ballynahinch Youth 7-a-side Tournament yesterday.
We arrived with a slightly different setup, missing a few players and without our regular goalkeeper, who was away on holiday. The tournament gave us an excellent opportunity to try a few new ideas, including a different formation and the boys adapted brilliantly from the very first whistle.
Throughout the day, the attitude, energy and work rate from every single player were outstanding. We were positive, brave on the ball and, in many games, were the team asking all the questions.
Our midfield worked tirelessly up and down the pitch, linking defence and attack, while our defenders put their bodies on the line with some tremendous tackles, blocks and clearances. A special mention goes to the boys who stepped into goal throughout the day and did a fantastic job for the team.
Going forward, we created chance after chance against some very strong opposition. The movement, passing and attacking intent were excellent, and Elijah was clinical in front of goal when it mattered most, helping us turn games in our favour and keep progressing through the tournament.
The boys battled their way through the day and were incredibly unlucky not to reach the Shield and Cup Finals after suffering heartbreak in penalty shootouts. However, they showed tremendous character, dusted themselves off and kept competing.
Their reward? Bringing home the Bowl Trophy! 🏆💙
While lifting the trophy was a brilliant moment, the most pleasing thing as coaches was seeing the boys work for one another, encourage each other and show excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
We faced teams from all over the country including visitors from Scotland and every player represented Lisburn Rangers with pride.
The sunshine was out, the football was flowing, and the boys had an absolute ball. We left Ballynahinch with plenty of lessons learned, plenty of memories made and a trophy to show for our huge efforts.
A massive well done to every player involved yesterday. This is a fantastic platform to build on as we head into the rest of the tournament season.
