☀️ MBC International Summer Camp ☀️

I am excited to announce that MBC will be running it’s first International Summer Camp this year from Wednesday 5th - Friday 7th August 26 (3 Day Camp)This summer camp will be bringing players together from all 4 provinces across Ireland and also players from Spain (Rhonda)

I am delighted to be welcoming Fran Gil and his players over from and can’t wait for all players to meet one another and make new memories while building long lasting friendships 🤝

The on court training will be 1-3pm & 4-6pm each day (1 hour break) in between sessions.

While there is 12 hours on court coaching throughout the camp with fully qualified BWF coaches, there will be 1/2 off court sessions also.

Each evening we will be organising a social event for players and coaches to be part of, players signing up will get more information in due course regarding this and layout of camp but will involve evening meal, attending Feile an Phobail (Belfast Biggest Festival) football match etc etc.

This is open to players that are playing at provincial level or above from U13 - U19 level.

This is a snippet of what will be an action packed three days with lots of hard training but having a blast while doing so 🔥😃🏸

** Badminton Summer Camp 2026 🏸**

I am delighted to announce that MBC Summer Camps are back again this year 🥳😃

I will be running the Summer Camp this year for 5 days from Monday 10th August - Friday 14th August (1-4pm) Age 7-15

This camp is targeted for beginners, who are new to badminton or have little badminton experience and looking to further develop their skills.

If you have any questions or want to reserve a spot for your child please email as soon as possible as spaces will fill up fairly quickly.

☘️ Victor Irish Masters Open 2026 ☘️

Congratulations to MBC player Kevin Donnelly who took part recently in the Victor Irish Masters Open at the start of the month and took home the title🏆 in the MS 40 event 👏👏

I want to also congratulate Brian McCaughey on 🥉medal in the MS 55 category and to Tony Clarke who is still winning titles in the MD 70 category, remarkable achievement and a joy to see 😃

Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 🏸

I am delighted to announce that I have been selected onto ‘TeamNI Coach Development Programme’ 😬

Even though badminton was not included in the Glasgow games, it will provide an excellent opportunity for myself to network with other performance coaches from across different sports and to experience a games for the first time, from observing player-coach relationships, behaviour trends and varied techniques & tactics used from across the different sports.

I want to say a massive thank you to in particular for firstly providing this exciting opportunity and secondly for all the support behind the scenes you have given me 💪

And to looking forward to continuing to learn and to help shape the future of TeamNI 📈

☘️ Victor Irish Masters Open ☘️

Delighted to win 🏆 the VICTOR Irish Masters Open Men’s Doubles title with good friend 😃 after a long break from competitive badminton. Was very enjoyable, with good competitive matches throughout the day. Also really good to catch up with players that I haven’t seen in a long time 👌

Alpha Finals Day 2026 🏸

A few weeks ago Alpha Badminton Club hosted its annual ‘Finals Day’ which is for all finalists that made it through to the finals from their club competitions over the last number of weeks/months.

Celtic Challenge U13/U14 2026 🏸

Last month I had the privilege to coach our U13/U14 Ulster select team for this years Celtic Challenge which was held in the Lisburn Racquets Club.

I want to thank Jeff Kearon, Greg Kavanagh, Donna Boyd for coaching alongside myself and all the volunteers & parents for their help across the two days, without you guys it would of been a very difficult weekend, so thank you 👏👏

Ulster finished in 2nd place🥈this year, which was a great improvement from last year 📈 well done to all the Ulster players, overall a lot of good performances and lots of positives to take away to build on 💪💪

Congratulations to the Leinster team who won the Celtic Challenge, well deserved winners and credit to all their players for their performances across the weekend🏆

Interprovincials 2026🏸

Congrats to MBC players Zoe Kearon, Paige Woods & Kevin Donnelly who represented ‘Ulster A Team’ & ‘Leinster +50 Team’ last weekend in the All Ireland Adult Interprovincials which took place at the Lisburn Racquets Club.

Zoe & Paige’s Ulster ‘A’ team came runner up 🥈 and Kevin’s Leinster +50 Team took the win 🏆 in the +50 category 🙌 🙌

National U17 Squad Training 🇮🇪

Another good training session done, down at the ‘Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena’ with the U17 Squad. Always good to catch up and coach alongside

Today the squad worked on ‘Doubles Defence’ primary focus on the BH cross lift from the FH side while also focusing on correct time to counter ‘Defence-Attack’ On the second part of the session we moved onto Singles Defence practices, focusing on speed from the rear court after playing certain shots.

It was fantastic to have double world medalist Anthony Clarke over from England Anthony challenged us throughout the session in a positive manner and shared a different outlook on certain aspects of the session. His insight into todays session was very helpful and informative - thank you
