Glyn Nixon's 70 birthday

Club legend Glyn Nixon celebrated his 70th birthday recently with the help of some old team mates!

Glyn now lives in Scotland but Derek Bowles, James McGrath, Postie McGourty, Eamon McPartland, Keith Elliott, Harry McConkey, Dessie Donegan, Ronnie Simpson, Ian McFrederick and the McBride twins all made the trip over to see him.

If you speak to anyone from that era, Glyn is regarded as one of the finest players ever to have worn the Lisbellaw jersey. Goals galore and famously bagged the winner in the Junior Cup in 1978!

In recent years Glyn has flown over to watch a few of our matches and some big Junior Cup games which was fantastic to see.

Unfortunately Glyn isn’t very well at the moment but I’m sure seeing some familiar faces perked him up. The bond this squad has after so many years is incredible to see and what football is all about.

Happy birthday Glyn and take care from everyone at Lisbellaw United FC

*SSG at the Bawnacre*
Our 2018s, 2019s and 2020s are now half way through their BKYL SSG program hosted each Monday evening at the Bawnacre. We have seen the boys go from strength to strength with their development getting a chance to play non competitive mini matches against other local clubs giving them excellent preparation for their future youth leagues. We have a fantastic group of boys who show excellent attitude, work rate and dedication each week Thank you to the parents for your commitment and of course to all the coaches who give up their free time to make this possible!!

⚽️MATCH REPORT⚽️

Our U11a were involved in an exciting, high-scoring match that kept everyone on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
A fast-paced game with momentum shifting back and forth as both teams built leads at different stages. Neither side gave up, resulting in a continuous end-to-end contest. The work rate across the pitch was exceptional, with the midfield working tirelessly right up to the final whistle.

A highlight of the match came from Jay McMahon, who produced a fantastic finish for a goal to remember.

Key Performances

Hugh Diver (Player of the Match): Outstanding performance at the back. Hugh continues to grow from strength to strength every week.

Ezra Gregg: Brilliant in goal, pulling off several impressive saves under pressure.

Well done to all the players for their hard work and great team spirit throughout!
Best of luck to Kesh for the remainder of the season 👍

⚽ U11 Colts Match Report⚽️

A fast-paced match today against Athletic! Cayden set the tone early with quick feet up front, leading to Ross setting up Mikey for an early goal, followed quickly by Mikey’s second after beating two defenders. Oscar kept things secure in net throughout the opening period.
Athletic lifted the intensity in the second period, but some fantastic defending from Joshua and Theo, along with great saves from Dru, kept us steady. Noah’s brilliant footwork set up Mikey for another goal, while the Athletic keeper pulled off strong saves against shots from Noah and Oscar.
In the final stretch, Joshua, Theo, and Dru locked down the defense. Noah’s footwork and another powerful run from Ross set up Mikey for two more fine finishes to round off a brilliant performance.
🌟 Fantastic effort from all the boys today, and best of luck to Athletic for the rest of the season!
Man of the Match: Mikey 🏆

Despite going 1-0 up and eventually 3-2 in front, our 1st team had to settle for a share of the points at the Bawnacre. Ben Parkinson opened the scoring with Scott Moutray getting the second. Ben added another to his tally but unfortunately a 92nd minute equaliser meant we had to make do with a point. Jamie Coalter stepped up in nets late on after Sam McDonald went off with a knee injury, we hope nothing serious.

The Reserves took the lead after just two minutes through Dylan Hall. Ryan Lindsay doubled the advantage from the penalty spot before Jake Swindle made it 3–0.
Irvinestown pulled a goal back to make it 3–1. The visitors reduced the deficit to 3–2 with 10 minutes remaining before grabbing a dramatic equaliser in the final minute to make it 3–3.

The 3rd team endured a scrappy though game at the Devenish but went 1-0 up thanks to Jason Brown. Unfortunately Mountjoy equalised with 15 minutes to go with the game ending 1-1.

Points gained for all 3 teams which could all very nearly have been 3 wins but some lovely football played and plenty more games to come!

Thanks as always to all our loyal supporters 👏
