What a brilliant morning we've had with our Squad players. A treat for all their hard work so far this year. Spring Lakes Watersports Park ,Long Eaton.
Cannot recommend this place enough, what a great set up.
Thank you folks, a joy to have spent the morning with you all.

A day out in the sun, with our Judo family, helping to support and raise awareness of our club, at the Family Fun day in Gresley yesterday.
A lovely day spent running our tombola stall, and doing a little display with some of our members. Our youngsters did amazing, showing off their judo with confidence, but showing discipline and respect, which is instilled from the word go.
Thank you to everyone that supported us, either by being there all day, helping with the stall, doing the display, coming to see us and everyone throughout that spent some pennies trying to win prizes on our tombola and lucky dip.
Thank you once again to the organisers, for another successful year.

West of England International open and training camp.

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, 5 players fought in Bath at Team Bath Judo University.
Jake Whitby , in a new weight u81kg and back from a break of at least 6 months, took a respectable 5th place in a tough group of men.
Ben Barkby also in a new weight u66kg, giving away a fair few kilos, took Bronze, winning all fights all but 1 to the eventual experienced Gold medallist. Both gents enjoyed the contests against new opponents.
Sunday saw simmo in the cadets u60kg, battle his way through the pools into the quarter final, missing the win and dropping into the bronze fight . Unfortunately after a golden score fight, he got caught, and walked away with 5th place and a dislocated thumb.
Isabel u63kg, fought her last pre cadet event, and found herself winning a Silver medal. Small mistake cost her the Gold but learnt lots from the days event. Amelia had a big tough group of u57kg cadets. A big task but fought with courage, winning a reparcharge fight but unfortunately didn't progress into the placings. Experience and lessons learnt.
Ben and Amelia joined the training camp for two days, Monday and Tuesday, getting in some quality randori to add to the experience.

West of England International open and training camp.

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, 5 players fought in Bath at Team Bath Judo University.

What a brilliant day, as always at the Shizentai Judo Club Rumble yesterday. As always, the most organised competition we attend all year, friendly and encouraging, with categories for all ages and abilities. Cannot thank everyone involved enough, well done Cleevely and co.
For the club another successful day, but most of all very enjoyable.
17 players from 4 year olds to Adult Dan grades, took to the tatami, without a question of doubt, to try their best and enjoy the experience.
Out little tots ( kinders) most for the first time, went out there and showed us they are brave and resilient. Its a big thing to step onto the middle of a mat, with hundreds watching, and all eyes on you. But not one dissapointed, shyed away or gave up, very proud all them all.
The experiences ones did an awesome job, with every R.K squad member coming away with Gold, cannot fault their performance development and attitude.
Congratulations to all clubs and players, it made a day of judo feel like judo should be.

RIP Mr Mealing Sensei.
A legend, a true gentleman , an Inspiration, an amazing knowledgeable judoka, but most of all a friend who supported us as a club and as a family. At 98 years old he showed us all how judo really is a lifetime sport, and a way of life.
He always had time for a chat, a trip down memory lane, and to put the world to rights.
He spent time to reward our Spanish members with certificates for their National wins, spoke to them individually and made sure they knew that judo would serve them well through life.
He will be sadly missed.
Heart felt wishes to his family and the BJC judo community.
Until we meet again. ❤️xx

RIP Mr Mealing Sensei.

Ben Barkby , one of the three BJC new appointed team captains, along with two other R.K members, selected to represent the club and Team BJC in Italy for the training week. A great opportunity to randori and learn from many judoka throughout Europe.
