RIP Mr Mealing Sensei.
A legend, a true gentleman , an Inspiration, an amazing knowledgeable judoka, but most of all a friend who supported us as a club and as a family. At 98 years old he showed us all how judo really is a lifetime sport, and a way of life.
He always had time for a chat, a trip down memory lane, and to put the world to rights.
He spent time to reward our Spanish members with certificates for their National wins, spoke to them individually and made sure they knew that judo would serve them well through life.
He will be sadly missed.
Heart felt wishes to his family and the BJC judo community.
Until we meet again. ❤️xx

Ben Barkby , one of the three BJC new appointed team captains, along with two other R.K members, selected to represent the club and Team BJC in Italy for the training week. A great opportunity to randori and learn from many judoka throughout Europe.

Leicester Open, Low grade today.
An amazing day with a few regulars and some newbies to the competition scene.
Today was about listening, doing what we've practiced and enjoying the journey.
We were very proud of everyone. From the little ones, to the older ones, who all showed brilliant resilience and determination.
Fabulous results too...
6 Gold
5 silver

Boys Orange and under at .judo.club with these two, Arthur and Alfie.
A long day, but definitely worth it to see the improvements.
Arthur was up first in the morning, slowly growing in confidence, and using the judo he has been learning. Listening and focused, trying and producing some nice techniques to take top spot in his group and a Gold medal.
A bit of a gap, and a quick run to the mini golf, to fill in some time, while waiting for Alfie to compete in the afternoon.
Alfie showed us his improvements, being a fairly new competitor, with just a hand full of events under his belt. Its takes a lot to step out there and fight. A silver medal added to his collection for his efforts.
Well done boys, keep training hard.
Thanks to .nathan449 for sitting matside, another great job.

Proud as punch, at yesterday's BJC National Open Championships.
A team who exceeded our expectations. From the regulars who have done a fair few of these events, to the debuts, you all did yourself, family and the club proud. Not only great judo, Ippon judo, but attitude and resilience. Win or learn, you took the ups and downs with maturity, respect for your opponent and showed brilliant judo etiquette throughout. Its not all about the winning.
We all learnt things yesterday, even us coaches, so going forward we can progress together.
A massive well done and respect to you all.
Of course the day wouldn't be the same without the great club support we have all day. Our judo family, once again, played a big part in this fabulous day, thank you xx
