Our 1st and 2nd XIs compete in their respective Premier Divisions of the Fullers Surrey County Legaue; Mid Sussex Cricket Le

ague (MSCL) Div 4 for the 3rd XI and MSCL Div 5 for our 4th XI; 5th XI plays in the Mid Sussex Cricket Conference. We operate two Sunday sides and a Midweek XI , compete in a Twenty20 midweek evening league and play occasional Veterans XI games. Our junior section under the watchful eye of Director of cricket Robert Mitchell offers cricket to boys and girls (age 5+). Junior sides represent the club at U10 to U17 age groups in the East Surrey Colts League, North & Mid Sussex Junior League and IDentilam Colts League. We compete at a number of age groups in the well respected Sussex Cricket Festival and are regular attendees at the invitation only Tunbridge Wells U17 Festival. 🏏 What a way to start the season! 🏏

On Sunday 31st May, Lingfield Cricket Club Women’s Softball Team headed to the Sussex Cricket Women’s Softball Festival at the 1st Central County Ground for our first competitive outing of the summer.

With two brand-new players in the squad and just 15 minutes of practice before our opening game, expectations were modest. However, the team had other ideas!

Lingfield opened the day with a fantastic win over Felbridge Cricket Club before following it up with another victory against Three Bridges. The team progressed all the way to the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on a place in the final by just six runs.

We’re especially delighted that the festival has already helped us recruit two new players, both showing incredible natural talent from their backgrounds in sports including stoolball and netball. Their enthusiasm and ability prove that you don’t need cricket experience to give softball cricket a go.

The success of the day has inspired us to enter two more tournaments this summer, so watch this space!

And finally, a gentle reminder to keep spreading the word about women’s softball cricket. Chat to friends, neighbours and especially fellow All Stars mums – that’s exactly how our two newest recruits found us. You never know who might become our next cricket star! 💙💛
