Hi 👋 I’m Gillian

I’m building the Beauty Alumni to support the challenges I’ve encountered and observed during my beauty career. I wanted a dedicated safe space for beauty professionals to learn, grow and thrive.

Customer facing work roles are so rewarding, but they can also be socially draining, lonely and life consuming. There are problem areas, challenges and blind spots I know I can help you with!

I can help because I’ve been there, after 30 years in the beauty industry I’ve managed 5-star spas, built successful teams and lead business with care and empathy for my staff.

I’ve also had the opportunity to develop my solo practice when it has suited my life-so many of us work alone, it takes a little time to adjust but I love having the flexibility and creative control it offers.

For the past 20 years beauty education has been part of my work role in private and public training environments, in the U.K. and internationally. Education is pivotal in any personal or professional development.

The Beauty Alumni memberships portals allow you to learn in your own time, while accessing greater support for your specific challenges if and when you feel you need it.

🔄Skills refresh - you have to practice what you preach!
I spent a day in London updating my PMU skills. Loved, loved, loved the PMU masterclass, and being a student for the day is the BEST classroom inspiration.

👩‍🎓Being the student reminded me:
▫️how much we expect our students to absorb
▫️ how nervous they feel when they showcase their skills to a crowded room
▫️the determination that is needed to apply knowledge to perfect skills
▫️the resilience to keep going when things aren’t perfect

It’s not that I didn’t know this, but feeling it is a whole other level.

I was put on the spot, critiqued and challenged but at the same time I was treated with respect, praised and supported. A masterclass in PMU but also in teaching!!

📝Everyday’s a school day 😁 - this was a really good one!
