The London Nocturne was a welcome reminder of what can be achieved for cycle racing in the UK.
There’s something special about evening racing, huge crowds and an iconic city-centre location that makes criterium racing such a great spectacle. Not since the Tour Series have we seen anything quite like this, so hopefully it’s a sign of more events like this to come.
For us, it was a night of mixed fortunes.
2021 National Criterium Champion Jo Tindley was prominent throughout, racing at the sharp end and showing her class. A crash near the front of the field split the race into three groups, and after being forced to stop, Jo spent the remainder of the race chasing hard, gradually reducing the gap, but unfortunately the leaders remained out of reach.
Amelia Cebak was less fortunate, with the same incident bringing her race to a premature end.
Next up: Colne GP.
