Happy February folks, let's not let the weather get us down?
We are unfortunately unable to use the Church for tomorrow's yoga (Friday 6th), but the rest of the month will be uninterrupted 🤞💞

Happy New Year, whatever you wish that to mean for you...
I believe that January is a time for keeping it slow and nurturing. The nights might be pulling out since the solstice just before Christmas which is very welcome, but we're in the midst of winter and our bodies and minds need kindness, rest and warmth. What do you think?

Running classes through the summer but not every week so please do check in before you come out! Here's the timetable for the month.

We had perhaps the most distraction we've ever had on a Tuesday evening during pranayama and relaxation at the end of class last night, some very noisy young people right outside the church playing music, shouting and singing. It sounded like they were having the best time 🔊🎶 while we were trying to settle in for a quiet calm relaxation 🤦🏻‍♀️
Thankfully it doesn't usually happen!

It made me think about the yogic principle of Pratyahara - withdrawal of the senses, which encourages us to turn our attention inward and withdraw our senses from external distractions. Easier said than done...?

A snippet from 'Let Them' theory also came to mind. When someone is causing a disturbance which is annoying or distracting but you have no control over, the only thing you can control is your reaction to it - don't fight it, let them have their fun and make as much noise as they like, you control how you react.

If you attend my classes you know how much I love breathing 😆
It is the most important thing we do, and thank goodness our bodies know how to do it when we're not paying attention.

It's also one of the ways in which we take in Prana, that life force, life sustaining energy - without that we're really stuffed 😬
Fear not, paying full attention and gaining control of the breath is a way to manage prana, so even if all you do in yoga is breathe, you're doing good 🤗💕🧘🏻‍♀️
