Happy New Year! 🎉

As we step into 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible 2025 for The Crossbar Group ❤️

From events like the Crossbar Cup, Crossbar Olympics and Let Girls Play, to apprentices qualifying, coaches progressing through Level 4, and learners moving on to college, apprenticeships and employment, it’s been a year full of proud moments.

We welcomed new learners across Alternative Provision, 1NSP1RE and 1NSP1RE+ supported reintegration back into mainstream education, and saw our Education Mentors complete their Level 4 qualification.

We ended the year together in true Crossbar spirit, completing 100 laps of The Wrekin and raising nearly £3,000 to ensure every young person in our Alternative Provision received a Christmas present.

Here’s to an exciting 2026 ahead, with new CPD opportunities and even more impact to come 💫

What a YEAR! Here’s a look back at some of our favourite moments from an unforgettable 2025 💙

January  Kicked things off strong with staff training days for CAP & EIS — setting the tone for an amazing year ahead!

February  Our first Foundation Half-Term Holiday Club of the year AND Open Evenings for The Crossbar College of Sport!

March  Competition season began with a bang… LET GIRLS PLAY 👏

April  Celebrating our brilliant CAP learners starting practical construction work + Easter fun at our Holiday Clubs!

May  Team spirit at its best with our annual staff football match & PRICE training for CAP staff!

June  The Crossbar Cup and fantastic Shervil Golf sessions for our learners — confidence & smiles all round!

Our Story

‘Crossbar Coaching’ is a Sports coaching company based in Shropshire, established in 2008, that aims to meet the needs of young players from 5-18. Professional but personable football and Sports coaching solutions are provided for primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and junior football clubs wishing to deliver high quality, safe, enjoyable and relevant football sessions. The organisation was established by Gavin Cowan (former Shrewsbury Town FC and AFC Telford United player). Gavin’s motivation for this work is driven by the belief that the development of young people can be achieved through sport. ‘Crossbar Coaching’ is equipped to offer a range of coaching and teaching solutions that include PPA cover, Out of School Hours Learning Sessions (including lunch time and after school clubs) or support with the delivery of junior club sessions. Complementing this, advice on how schools and clubs can achieve wider sport development outcomes is provided. ‘Crossbar Coaching’ does not have an aim of working with as many schools as possible. Instead, the organisation aims to identify a number of schools and clubs that are keen to develop a long term relationship and create a learning culture for all involved.
