MATCH REPORT🗒️❤️

“What a start to the season! ⚽️🔥

Whittington got their season off to the perfect start with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over last season’s runners-up Pelsall Villa💪🏻

After a slow start, Olly Chapman gave the team a lift when he closed down the Pelsall keeper before calmly slotting the ball home. Not long after, Chapman was brought down in the box and Joe Panting fearlessly dispatched the resulting penalty into the top corner to make it 2-0.

From there, it was one-way traffic. Owen Thomas made it 3-0 with a sublime 25-yard effort into the top corner, before two more goals arrived before half time.

Edward Hardy and George Guy both found the net, with Tom Foskett providing the assists for both.

Half time: 5-0.

The second half saw Whittington remain firmly in control, although chances were less frequent. A sixth goal was added late on when Luis Painter scored from close range following a corner — although we’re not sure he knew too much about it! 😂

Pelsall did have opportunities to get on the scoresheet, but the Whittington defence looked strong throughout. When they were occasionally breached, Noah Young in goal handled everything well❤️

The whole team put in a fantastic performance, but special mentions go to:

👏 Finn Stevenson – a solid defensive performance, including a brilliant goalline clearance.

💪 Cam Maxwell – energetic and controlled in midfield.

⭐ Player of the Match, George Guy - a superb defensive display topped off with a goal.

A fantastic way for the team to say goodbye to Carl and Ellie James in their final game before they move to Cornwall. They will be hugely missed by the whole team. ❤️
