⚠️ Event Director Update! ⚠️

There are a few changes happening here at Beacon parkrun!
Our lovely Judy is stepping down as Event Director. Don't worry though, she's still very much part of the core team, so she's not going far ❤️
We're also delighted to announce that Jane Mackenzie will be stepping up to join Jemma as Event Director.
Jane has done so much for Beacon parkrun over the last few years as part of the core team, and we're sure you'll all agree she'll be fantastic in the role. We couldn't be more excited to have her alongside us as Event Director.
Jane does an impressive job of avoiding the camera, which is why there isn't a photo to share, but we'd love for everyone to join us in giving her a huge Beacon welcome and thank you! 🎉

⚠️29th August 2026 Beacon Parkrun Cancelled⚠️

Sorry guys, but due to flooding there is now a burst pipe in the park, sadly there is no alternative route around this so we will need to cancel tomorrow.

We should be back to normal next week!

Still need 3 marshals, 1 scanner, 1 finish token person, first time briefing and a funnel manager… anyone??? 🤞🤞🤞 (assuming we are on for now, and the water subsides)

So the park is looking slightly flooded! This has happened before and quickly cleared up, but please keep a close eye out on socials over the next few days. We will update as soon as we know anything ☺️

Congratulations Lichfield ⛈️

The Met Office has crowned us as the location with the highest 12 hour rainfall totals from the Environment Agency gauges.

We were hit by 60mm of rainfall in 12 hours.

For context, Staffordshire has only had 91.4mm of rain so far this summer 😳

At least the ground will be grateful for the rain ☔

Lots of roles on offer for this Saturday! Need 4+ marshals, time keepers, scanners, funnel managers, token givers and course check.

Please get in touch! A ratio of 1:10 volunteer to running events is a good guide, if you can, to keep our event going.

All training is provided, no one is left unsupported. Either message below or email us at [email protected]

Big thanks to Claire Schwarzenbach who has written a lovely run report for us this week!

If you can volunteer next Saturday please let us know! You know you want too.. we can't operate without volunteers. (There are several roles where you can still run, so you get a volunteer credit and a run credit).

Well done to the 474 runners!
Firstly huge well done to Elaine for her 50th parkrun, great achievement ❤️

We did have some lost property below so let us know if you recognised the jumper below.

We did have incidents between marshal points 8 and 9 (the path in the woodland) please can we be mindful when over taking it is tight down there so if we can all give a bit of space that would be great. We are also not sole users of the park, so please can we give members of the public space.

A few people falling today around the back of Morrisons, which has never happened before! The path is a bit slippy with the leaves so again just be mindful.

Results are done anyway and I will see you next week!
