Girls Wigan Warriors training session. 🔴⚫️⚪️

It was fantastic to see so many new faces down at training and even better to see all the girls getting stuck in, working hard, and enjoying themselves throughout the session.

A huge thank you to Wigan Warriors for coming down and delivering such a great session. We don't have a date confirmed for the next visit just yet, but we'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as we do.

In the meantime, all girls are more than welcome to come along every week and join in with our teams. Whether you're completely new to rugby or already play, we'd love to see you there!

On a hot Father’s Day morning, Leyland Warriors U11s faced Limehurst Lions in a hard-fought contest that showcased great determination from both teams.

The first half was an evenly matched battle, with strong running and committed defence on display from both sides. Neither team was able to gain a significant advantage, and the scores were locked at 12-12 at half-time after an intense opening period.

With no substitutes available, the Warriors faced a tough challenge in the second half as the heat began to take its toll. Limehurst Lions started the stronger after the break and were able to build a lead while the Warriors searched for fresh energy.

To their credit, the Warriors never gave up. Despite the demanding conditions and having no players available to rotate, they dug deep and found another gear in the final ten minutes. Strong efforts with the ball and determined defence helped them close the gap and make the scoreline much tighter by the final whistle.

Although the match ended in a 40-36 victory for Limehurst Lions, there was plenty to be proud of from the Warriors. The team’s resilience, effort and commitment in difficult conditions were outstanding, and they showed great character to keep battling until the very end.

Well done to both teams for an excellent game played and a special Father’s Day thank you to all the parents and supporters cheering from the sidelines.

The first of two games in six days as we welcome down Cardiff Rugby League Masters down to Moss Side.

Game kicks off at 1pm, with York v Wigan being shown in the Bar at 3pm.

What a game!! 🔥

Our “Magnificent Seven” (with help from Blackpool Stanley players) put on an incredible display of teamwork, determination, and pure rugby spirit. Both teams battled non-stop for the full 40 minutes—no let-up, just end-to-end action! 💪

🛡 Defence: Brave, committed, and full of heart (with plenty of “David vs Goliath” moments!)
⚡ Offence: Quick rucks, smart play, and great use of the wings—plus some brilliant tries!

🌟 Shoutouts:
👏 Huge performances across the board—tackles, tries, assists, and loads of effort
🚀 Special mention to our Players of the Match for leading by example
😂 And a moment of silence for the corner flag… it didn’t make it

❤️ The best part? Sportsmanship—helping each other up, respecting opponents, and playing the game the right way

🤝 Final score: 40–40 – the perfect result after an epic battle!

We made another trip away from home to Warrington to play Latchford Giants, our first time facing this team.

The game started evenly, with both sides matching each other. The Giants then found their feet playing some good rugby and scored two quick tries, but the Warriors responded well with some good hands and a well-worked try to get back into the game.

Overall, there were strong carries and some really good defensive work from every player in the team as we have been working on looking for numbers on either side to make sure every opposition player is marked. Communicating early, staying connected as a defensive line, and avoiding leaving gaps that can be exploited.

We continue to build each week as players understand their positions, Lots of positives to take from the match. We finished on a high with a strong carry, a couple of offloads, and a great try down the wing.

Well done, Warriors, and thank you to our hosts. We look forward to the return fixture unless the fixtures change again and good luck for the rest of the season.

Our under 8s team is growing but we would still LOVE to have you!!

Boys, girls, everyone welcome, my daughter would love another girl on the team 😅 you just need to be in the current year 3 (born Sept 2017-Aug 2018).

We have a couple players who are also football players, some go to beavers, my daughter goes to dance too, and we have players with SEND. In other words, we welcome EVERYBODY, rugby is so inclusive - it's really lovely to see all the different skills every child brings.

My priority is your child, that they're comfortable, and that they are enjoying it, and that they're having fun!

Your first handful of sessions are free so come along, give us a try, see if it's for you, make new friends and have lots of fun!!

(We have teams from ages 4 and up, please reach out and I can put you in touch with the relevant team coach)
