Looking directly at the sun or using the wrong glasses or glasses that are not certified can cause serious and lasting eye damage.

HOW TO VIEW THE ECLIPSE SAFELY

1. Wear Certified Solar Eclipse GlassesCheck the ISO Standard: Only use glasses or handheld solar viewers that explicitly display the ISO 12312-2 safety certification. Inspect the Lenses: Before putting them on, check that the filters are not scratched, torn, punctured, or creased. Discard them if they are damaged.

Avoid Everyday Items: Regular sunglasses—no matter how dark—smoked glass, and exposed photographic film do not protect your eyes from permanent retinal damage.

2.Use indirect methods such as COLANDER METHOD, CARDBOARD PINHOLE PROJECTOR (look up instructions to make online)

3.NEVER USE TELESCOPES, ORDINARY SUNGLASSES OR BINOCULARS with Eclipse sunglasses as these reduce the efficiency and safety of them.

Today, as a footballing family, we come together to celebrate the life of our dear Friend, Club Committee Member and Team Coach, Kerry Coombes.

An amazing mum, daughter, sister, fiancee and a role model to many children and young people for over 14 years at Lostock Hall Juniors FC.

While we all mourn Kerry’s passing, we will celebrate and honour her passion to support children, both in her paid working life and as a dedicated volunteer at the club.

Kerry touched the lives of many and she leaves a lasting legacy and impact on our lives, both on and off the pitch.

We will continue to send our deepest sympathies to the whole family, pray for Ava-Rose’s recovery and offer our support to Kerry’s family, everyone within LHJFC and all affected by this devastating loss in the coming days, weeks, months and years ahead.

Rest In Peace Kerry.

Important Announcement from LHJFC

It is with an extremely heavy heart and the deepest of sadness that we have to announce the tragic passing of Club Coach and Volunteer Kerry Coombes.

A good friend, committee member, coach, coach mentor at Lostock Hall Juniors FC and more importantly than all of this, a loving mum who couldn’t do enough for her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and daughter, a passionate football fan and a player in two of our teams. She is currently being cared for by the amazing staff at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The family have a special place in the hearts of all at LHJFC.
As well as Kerry being a volunteer at the club, along with her dad since 2012, her younger brother was a player, coach and referee at LHJFC.

Kerry was an influential figure on the club committee and for a period of time, was Lead Coach for our Tiny Tacklers (under 6s) and was the lead for our club’s Youth Committee

She will be fondly remembered, greatly missed and will never be forgotten by our footballing family.

Every single volunteer and player at LHJFC will be praying for the recovery and healing of Kerry’s daughter in hospital and we send our deepest sympathies to Kerry’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

The Club Welfare Officer is supporting members of the club.

We were so honoured to be shown around Derian house and to meet some of the children there. What a fabulous place and amazing people xx

Here's this week's second installment to another busy celebration. Seriously - we can't thank you enough for all that you do! 🙌

💚 Euxton Villa Football Club donated hundreds of toys, games, footballs, tickets, and even a framed shirt for us in the lead-up to Christmas.

💚 An adorable bunch of bunnies were dropped off thanks to our long term supporter, Bettie Webster. She's also had help from her friends at Much Hoole Knit & Natter.

💚 The team at Lancashire Renewable gave us a generous cheque for £655, money of which was raised at their Christmas raffle.

💚 We enjoyed a visit from the incredible Diane, who works at HMP Garth and has raised a brilliant £2,146.50 for us.

On Friday the lads did our Christmas present drop for Derian house. Due to unforeseen circumstances it had to be cancelled pre Christmas.
They had a tour of the hospice and met some of the children and staff and had a game of boccia.
The boys did us proud and were very respectful.
It definitely highlighted the amazing work they do at the hospice. Xx
