Monday reflections now that I’m a HYBRID ROCKSTAR!😄
Ok ok, so CrossFit is my thing, my little ADHD brain needs the constant change of direction, change of stimulus BUT as a coach and as a fitness enthusiast, I simply could not stand there and coach or even judge a sport that I haven’t tried..
So in typical Emily fashion, I had a f*ck it mentally and booked onto Hyrox Sim just before Christmas, then did nothing else about it other than my usual CrossFit training. So, I thought I’d share with you my real thoughts on Hyrox after giving it a real genuine go.
It’s long and a mental challenge. None of the movements are particularly challenging to execute but they are demanding on your body.
It’s a race of 2 halves. The Burpee Broad Jumps take you to a new pain place and then you hold on from there.
Yesterday was absolutely freezing and that made the pain all the worse.
I absolutely took the slog for granted and was a fool to do it without training
However, if you do CrossFit regularly you will be trained to a level and will absolutely be able to complete this.
Running.. it’s all about running and I don’t like running, so yeah.
I probably won’t do another Solo in the near future, I need to forget about it first then I might do it again 🤣
Finally.. It should be respected for what it is and should not be judged against CrossFit. It’s an endurance sport and can absolutely be done along side.
Will I be looking to train and strategise and shave off time? Absolutely not, it would bore me to death BUT..
Respect.
