Hardly Athletic

Hardly Athletic Hardly Athletic was founded to give opportunities for older players who want to return to football. But don't let their lack of skill fool you.

Introducing the infamous Hardly Athletic – a group of guys who seem to have missed the memo that they're not quite as young as they used to be. Despite their age and mediocre footballing abilities, they somehow managed to form a team that's more entertaining than a game of bingo at the local community center. These guys are masters of the art of self-deprecation, and they'll make you laugh until y

our sides hurt, even if they're on the receiving end of a 10-0 thrashing. What they lack in athleticism, they make up for in heart and humor. They're not just a football team, they're a group of middle-aged men who refuse to let go of their youth and their passion for the beautiful game. They're not trying to win the World Cup or even a local league. No, they just want to have a laugh and promote men's mental health along the way. They'll probably tell you that it's the taking part that counts, but deep down, they secretly dream of scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final. So, if you're looking for a good time and a chance to watch some middle-aged guys run around like headless chickens, come and support Hardly Athletic. Who knows, you might even pick up some life lessons on how to keep chasing your dreams, no matter how ridiculous they might seem.

One thing we hear all the time is:
"Walking football? That's not for me..."

For some people, making the jump from "normal football" or vets football into walking football can feel like a big step. There's still that little bit of "walkingfooty shyness" out there.

So we wanted to show something simple...

If ex-pros and football legends can play walking football... then everyone can.
Players such as John Barnes, Peter Shilton, Viv Anderson, Bryan Robson, Teddy Sheringham and many others have been involved in the game. There are plenty more too – Larry Lloyd, Brian Kilcline, Brian Roy, Gary Birtles… and no doubt many more we haven't even mentioned.

Walking football isn't about hanging your boots up.

It's about putting them back on. ⚽

Let's remove the barriers, lose the shyness, and get more people enjoying the game we all love.
