Today’s results from the tournament.
United vs Duncombe Park
Draw 0-0
We started off the day with high hopes for some results across the day and started full of motivation against Duncombe park. One of Duncombe park’s players attempted to wipe out Meg’s legs but came off worse after getting floored by her own team mate. Meg ended up on the floor again and Duncombe park landed themselves a yellow card and awarded Meg a free kick. She went straight for goal however was saved by the goalie. Beth then also ended up on the floor but not as a result of Duncombe park! Robyn decided to trip Beth over on the recovery run back to defend and we still don’t know her reasoning for this !
United vs wiggington
Loss 1-0
An unlucky lose to Wigginton. United pressed hard and had a couple of attempts. Nicole passed the ball through to Beth who was straight on goal, but unfortunately missed.
A similar situation landed the ball with Nicole, who ran down the wing and passed through to Martha who was again straight on goal. She tried to score but sent it wide! Wiggington then took the lead with a sneaky pass through to a player on the back post who was unmarked and tapped it in to make it a 1-0 loss.
United vs Bishopthorpe
Loss 1-0
Another unlucky loss to Bishopthorpe who it was nice to play again as they are now in the south division unlike last year when they were a part of our games. A few good attempts on goal but a slight heavy touch and one step too many from Nicole played the ball into the keepers hands instead of the goalie. Bishopthorpe’s goal then came from a similar scenario to wiggington where an unmarked player on the back post was passed the ball and tapped it into goal. Well done to Bishopthorpe for winning the day overall.
United vs Honeyball
Draw 0-0
An unlucky draw to honeyball with neither team scoring any goals. Both teams battled hard up and down the pitch and with United starting to tire with limited subs, we managed to not let honeyball score any goals to keep it a 0-0 draw. Nice to play against some of the players we have played previously as again they haven’t been in our games this season.
United vs town
Draw 0-0
Another draw for the day when we played our other team. Plenty of chances for both teams to score. Chloe almost scored an own goal after a corner was taken by Beth, and was headed in by Chloe. Unluckily for United, Grace was on the ball and caught it an over her head. Grace then saved another goal from Beth. Emilie and Connie both had a shot on the United goal but went wide.
United vs Thirsk
Draw 0-0
Good game against the winners of our league and hosts of today, Thirsk. Plenty of determination from United to not let Thirsk beat us. We had a couple of chances on goal and equally so did Thirsk. Julie was on fire in defence, clearing the ball with meaning! Robyn and Meg worked hard to help out. Robyn got a ball to the face but brushed it off and continued to run her socks off.
United vs Pocklington
Draw 0-0
Another 0-0 draw for United against pocklington. A corner from Beth nearly got Hollie a goal on her debut game day after it landed at the feet and she battled in the box with the defence. Unfortunately the keeper got hold of the ball with safe hands. Both Martha and Nicole had a couple of chances on goal but again, were saved by the keeper.
Town vs Wigginton
Loss 1-0
An unfortunate start to the day for town after Wigginton scored within the first 5 minutes of the game. They played the ball wide and across the goal to the player on the back post who tapped it into goal. A good effort from Emilie for the counter attack after Chloe passed to Emily, who then passed to Emilie which left her 1 on 1 with the goal keeper with the defender chasing her down fast. Unluckily didn’t manage to score.
Town vs Honeyball
Draw 0-0
Lots of chances from town against Honeyball with Emilie having a shot on goal but unfortunately going high. Grace made some excellent saves especially from a powerful shot taken from the edge of the box. Emily played in defence for the first time like a duck to water. A few good runs into honeyballs half were made however a touch too many left town unable to score a goal.
Town vs Bishopthorpe
Loss 1-0
Both sides played really well. Catherine attempted a header but just missed. Everyone made some fierce tackles however Bishopthorpe scored with a lucky volley that ended up in the back of the goal. An unlucky loss.
Town vs Thirsk
Draw 0-0
Town held Thirsk up in their game and almost had the chance to take the win a few times. Possession was very 50/50 for both sides with a few good attempts on goal. Emily was 1 on 1 with the keeper after the ball was played through by Chloe but was unable to score as the keeper saved it. Sammy took an amazing shot which definitely went in. The ball landed just over to goal line but bounced up into the keepers hands who spun around and claimed it didn’t go in. No goal was called by the ref! Unlucky town!
Town vs United

Town vs Duncombe park
Draw 0-0
Another draw for town against Duncombe park who continued to play as rough as they did with United. Town took no prisoners and did not let this phase them and battled it right out to the end with some good attempts and runs towards goal and some cracking defensive work and clearances from the back. An unlucky draw !
Town vs Pocklington
Win 1-0
The only win for both teams of the day! Well done town! Town worked hard and the win was secured by the ball landed at Chloe’s feet outside the box, who then took it in her stride and made a cracking strike straight into the bottom corner of the goal. Town then continued to work hard to ensure no goals were conceded to ensure they took home the 1-0 win
