Established in 1927, Worthing Harriers is one of the oldest athletic clubs in Sussex, offering training and competition from age 9 through to masters categories.

Two Worthing athletes proudly represented Team Sussex at the Don Turner’s U14 Inter-County Match at Walton earlier this month.

Archie Windham – A Discus
Archie earned his place in the Sussex A team after winning Gold at the Sussex U14 Championships with a PB of 24.45m. He finished an excellent 6th in the A String, throwing 22.45m, his second-furthest throw of the season.

Harryson Crowley – Non-Scoring 800m
Harryson produced a fantastic performance in the 800m, narrowly finishing 2nd in an impressive 2:18.36, also his second fastest time of the season.

A huge well done to both Archie and Harryson! Representing your county is a fantastic achievement, and both athletes competed brilliantly on a very hot day against athletes from 12 counties.

Fantastic evening at The Weakest Link at Hove Lagoon, with a brilliant turnout from our club!

The event is a unique team relay, with runners completing individual legs before the whole team comes together for the final stage so you really are as strong as your weakest link!

Special mentions to our first team, who finished 4th overall, while our first junior team also performed brilliantly, coming home in 9th place.

With so many teams taking part, there was inevitably a little bit of chaos along the way, but that was all part of the fun! There was plenty of cheering, encouragement and team spirit throughout the evening, and it was lovely to see runners of different ages and abilities all enjoying the event together.

🥈 for Piper at the English Schools Championships!

An outstanding performance saw Piper throw a huge 2m+ PB of 49.80m to claim 2nd place in the U15 Girls Hammer.

8th place for Alice Howie at the UK Athletics Championships in Birmingham today in the Hammer!

She threw an incredible 58.07m, just shy of her personal best, against some of the country's best senior athletes.

To make the final at the UK Championships as an U20 is an incredible achievement. 🇬🇧

Fantastic day yesterday leading the Botolphs local running club checkpoint at the Centurion Running South Downs Way 100 race - a World Trail Majors event and a British Trail Running championship race.

And what an event! New course records set in both men’s and women’s fields, in perfect summer conditions. Congratulations to those who took part. 🏃🏻

As part of Worthing Harriers are going to host a run and chat on Tuesday, 12 May.

This is also to remember Matt Wilson, a senior road and trail runner and committee member who we sadly lost a year ago.

Runners of all ages, abilities and clubs are invited, setting off from Worthing Leisure Centre at 6:30pm, roughly 10k distance. There will also be a walking group doing around 5/6km.

Junior Harrier No993 was one of 6 U14 boys selected to represent the South East, a huge achievement at age 11!

The race route was the final 2.6k of the London Marathon course - The TCS London Mini Marathon Champs.

Riley came 32nd overall after a rather hectic start, finishing in 8:37mins and was the 4th finisher of all Year 1 U14B, the SE team finished 3rd. Well done Riley! 👏🏻
