⛳️ Annual Captain's Charity Day Success at Lewes Golf Club! ☀️

Last weekend saw 88 golfers take to the South Downs for Club Captain James Stewart’s annual Captain’s Charity Day. With blue skies and great company, it was a fantastic day of competitive, fun-filled team golf.

Congratulations to the winning team of Lee Johnson, Max Johnson, Josh Beal, and Johnny Wood for putting together the best score on the day! 🏆

Players were well looked after at the halfway house, where Mary “Berry” served up her renowned sausage rolls alongside Clare’s famous homemade cakes and some much-needed refreshing drinks. 🌭🍰🍺

The real winner of the day was James’s chosen charity, the Children’s Chronic Arthritis Association (CCAA), with a fantastic £4,300 raised! 💙

Club Captain James Stewart shared his gratitude:

"I am absolutely thrilled by the support shown to me and, more importantly, my charity. To raise £4,300 is wonderful, and I really can’t thank the members, sponsors, and everyone who donated prizes enough."

What a fantastic turnout up at the club on Wednesday evening!

With our position high on the Downs providing fantastic, unobstructed views across Sussex, the clubhouse patio and surrounding banks proved to be the ultimate vantage point for watching the partial solar eclipse.

It was brilliant to see so many members, families, and friends gathering on the lawn, drinks in hand, enjoying the glorious summer weather and taking in the spectacle together.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our clubhouse team for keeping the refreshments flowing throughout the evening.

A huge thank you to Cath James and everyone who joined us for our recent Wildflower Walk across the course.

Cath managed to identify an incredible 77 different plant species—beating last year's record of 74 and showcasing just how rich our local downland environment is.

Some of the best sightings of the day included a beautiful display of pink Pyramidal Orchids in the rough by the 16th, yellow Toadflax between the 14th green and 15th tee, and the wonderfully named Bristly Ox-tongue near the clubhouse steps.

We are incredibly proud of the diverse natural habitat we share here on the Downs. If you took any photos of the flora during your recent rounds, please feel free to share them in the comments below.

The club championships took place over the weekend of 20th and 21st June, bringing some fantastic competitive golf to the Downs under ideal summer conditions.

It was a superb weekend of tournament play across all divisions, and we are delighted to announce our newly crowned champions for the 2026 season.

A huge congratulations go to our individual trophy winners:

Our thanks go to Club Pro Brad Harris and his team, as well as Tim Brewster and the greenkeeping crew, for their exceptional work in preparing the course. Thanks must also go to Mark King and his clubhouse staff for ensuring the facilities were in immaculate condition throughout our flagship weekend.

Club Captain James Stewart was on hand to present the silverware on the green following the conclusion of play. Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the competitors to make the weekend such a success.

Here is how the programme breaks down:

Year 1: Get Started (£365)
Focused on getting you comfortable with the basics. It includes 8 group coaching sessions, 3 individual lessons, unlimited twilight golf after 3pm, 50 driving range tokens, and access to our monthly social roll-ups.

Year 2: Get Playing (£500)
Focused on building your confidence on the fairways. This year includes 4 group sessions, 6 individual lessons, unlimited off-peak course access, and friendly team matches.

You also get a 15% clubhouse bar discount from day one, which comes in handy for those post-round catch-ups.

Places for the 2026 intake are limited so we can keep the group sizes small and supportive.

CHAMPION PERFORMANCE: Brad Harris Wins at Copthorne! 🏆🏌️‍♂️

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news from our very own Club Professional! Brad Harris took the top spot at the Sussex Golf Captains Pro-Am at Copthorne on Thursday 7th May 2026.

In a highly competitive field of 30 local pros, Brad led from the front with a superb round of 68 (-4), clinching the individual title by one shot. 👏

The Highlights:
✨ 5 Birdies in a clinical performance
✨ Only 1 bogey across 18 holes
✨ Exceptional ball-striking in beautiful spring conditions

It’s great to see Brad’s hard work paying off—it was a well-deserved win and a proud moment for Lewes Golf Club. 🔵⚪️
