As one of the largest, most active clubs in Sussex, Southdown Sports Club is located in the beautiful semi-rural setting of Lewes. The Club offers extensive playing opportunities for all ages and abilities, whether you enjoy mixing in for social tennis, just wa

nt to play with friends and family, want to join one of the many coaching groups or enjoy playing competitive tennis in the many men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams which run all the year round. The club has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere providing a wonderful outdoor facility not only to play tennis, but to form many new friendships. Southdown has a full team of qualified coaches on hand offering individual and group coaching for both adults and juniors, with a comprehensive year-round tennis programme and annual tournaments tailored for beginner, social and performance players. Southdown is a not-for-profit Members Club enabling annual membership costs to be kept at very reasonable levels, with facilities being maintained to a high standard and regularly upgraded. An active social calendar also makes good use of the Club’s excellent catering and bar facilities. Come down and give tennis a go, whether you are an experiences player, thinking of starting to play again or completely new to the game! Are you an Egghead, a Mastermind, a Quiz Pro or just a mine of useless information? If so, make a beeline to the Southdown Sports Club in Lewes on Friday 26th September for our ***QUIZ NIGHT & Chilli Supper***

These are Southdown's wonderful, hardy, tennis-devoted Ball Bashers, all 24 of them, who turned out to play today, with big smiles, despite the crazy high winds and occasional showers 🍂 🎾

Because who would want to miss out on the fun and friendship of a large, regular Monday session well organised by Tennis Committee member Molly Scragg...even if some of your shots go a bit haywire in the wind?! 🌬️ 😂

Ball Bashers is popular with Beginners, Improvers, those returning after injury, and anyone new to Southdown who's a bit unsure about playing in other groups. It's free for members, and you'll receive a friendly welcome.

We’re all so incredibly proud of Fred on winning the U8 title at the Sussex championship this week. The progress he’s made over the past three years has been remarkable!

September is the month of new starts...so why not start our new Tennis Course on Saturdays, for Beginners & Improvers? 🎾

If you are looking for a new challenge and want to learn to play tennis, then Saturdays from September can be your regular Tennis Day! 😁

Our fun, friendly sessions with professional coach Lizzy Thoms will cover basic technical and tactical aspects within a games-based approach.  You'll learn progressively with drills and an introduction to match play.
