Could we just talk about… nervous system regulation? 🧠

It doesn’t mean being calm all the time.

Your nervous system is supposed to activate. Regulation is about having the flexibility to respond, move through different states and recover.

You don’t need to “fix” every uncomfortable feeling.

What should I just talk about next?

This week, seeing my body composition change brought some old stories to the surface.

I’ve been strength training for over 20 years and for the last 6 years I’ve trained at HUB , where I’ve learnt to think about body composition so differently.

It’s not just about the number on the scales. It’s about how you feel, how strong you are, what your body can do and how you perform and recover.

But yet, seeing my weight and body fat increase still made a little voice in my head say:

“That’s not good.”

It reminded me how deeply ingrained smaller = better can be.

Especially when I trained as a dancer from a young age, where being smaller and leaner was often seen as more desirable.

So despite 20+ years of training, years of yoga and my work as a yoga therapist, I’m still unlearning.

Yoga teaches me to notice.
Yoga therapy teaches me to get curious.
Strength training is teaching me that a body can get heavier, stronger, more muscular and more capable and none of those things are a failure.

Maybe the goal isn’t the smallest body possible.

Maybe it’s a body that can do the things I want it to do and the compassion to let it change along the way.

Still learning. 🤍
