Hereโ€™s how we lineup today as we travel Upper Sapey to face Bromyard in back to back fixtures. Today, trying to bounce back from last weeks defeat we have a young squad including 5 under 18s.
Our first team fixture at home vs Ledbury has unfortunately called off due to our opposition being unable to raise a team.

1st team match report: Hereโ€™s what captain Harry had to say about last Saturdays trip to Ross:

โ€œ1s visited Ross on Saturday. Things started well with me winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

What transpired was up there with one of the worst fielding displays Dales has had in a long time. The bowlers stuck at it well but unfortunately we just couldn't take the catches coming our way... or even balls rolling across the ground at times! ๐Ÿ˜‚ a costly early drop of the Ross opener, followed by a couple more later, proved costly and he went on to punish us with a good 100. Wickets were shared between me (3), Lucas (2), Ethan (1) & Cillian (1). Ross finished up on 244. Shout out to Mike R who stood in as keeper, and despite the shambles around him put in a good display behind the stumps.

Following a delicious tea spread, we were hoping we would be energised with the bat... That wasn't the case! Plenty of starts with Brad, Burkey, Paul and I all getting into the 20s but failing to go on. I then summed up the day's performance in 2 balls by running out young Ethan and then edging behind the next ball... Sorry Ethan, please take this as my public apology ๐Ÿ˜‚

Comprehensive defeat, and beaten by the better team that's for sure! Hopefully we can bounce back against Ledbury next week at Mill Streetโ€

Hereโ€™s todayโ€™s line ups. Better late than never posting. The first team travel to Ross on Wye CC and look to build on the recent run of good form. Mike Ruckledge comes in to replace Abdul behind the stumps, Burkey is back from being busy putting out fires and making chocolate (hero) & returns after taking 2 wickets last week for the 2s. The twos hope to bounce back after back to back defeats as they play host to Bromyard Cricket Club . This weekend we feature an impressive 9 under 18s across the 2 teams after the youngsters continue to impress.

A delayed first team match report from last Saturday. Today we travel to Ross and hope to build on last weeks win.

Hereโ€™s Harryโ€™s report:

Saturday was an extremely dreary and wet day but somehow the rain stayed away in long enough spells for us to sneak a game in!

I won the toss and elected bowl first in the damp and overcast conditions.

Colwall started well and their openers proved difficult dislodge but Paul and Cillian did manage to keep the run rate down. There was then a rain delay and the game was shortened to 40 overs per innings. Play resumed and I made the breakthrough to give us a bit of momentum. Lucas was the star of the show though, and got the other opener out early in his spell, Ethan with the catch and returning the brotherly favour from last week. Lucas finished with 3/34 and Shaiq also got a couple of key wickets late on with 2/26. We managed to restrict them to 172/6 from their 40 overs.

We came back out quickly after tea with Jack and Brad scoring at a good lick. But then the rain came again to force off and halt the momentum. Thankfully it stopped and we got back out there with a revised target of 157. Brad did have a couple of lives, but cashed in and brought up his 50. He fell quickly after for 52. Jack played an assured knock giving us complete control and was ably supported by Abdul. Jack finishing on 57* and Abdul 26* as we cruised to victory in the end.

Another good day at the office for the team and take us to 2nd in the table.

๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ Second Team Match Report ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ

In a rain-shortened encounter, the 2nds were up against some of the finest swing bowling in Division 9 and just couldn't quite find enough runs to see off Builth.

After several interruptions for rain, Dales were asked to bat first in difficult conditions, with a damp pitch and soaking outfield making run-scoring a challenge throughout the innings. Despite the conditions, Robbie continued his impressive start to the season, top-scoring for the second consecutive week and helping Dales post a low target of 100.

With the ball, stalwart Ian Jones made an immediate impact, taking a wicket with just his second delivery. Unfortunately, his afternoon was cut short shortly afterwards when he split his hand open stopping a ball in the field.

Wickets were shared between Ian, Calvin and Hugh.
15 year old, Harley was the standout performer in the field, producing an excellent display and saving numerous runs with some outstanding stops.

Builth eventually reached their target. Plenty of rain, plenty of swing and not many runs made for a difficult afternoon, but the 2nds will look to bounce back this weekend at home vs Bromyard.

A special mention this week goes to our young players, with an incredible 9 Under-19s featuring across both senior sides!!

Many of these youngsters are now regular members of our senior teams, which is a testament to their hard work, commitment and the strength of our junior section.

Seeing so many homegrown players representing the club at senior level is something everyone at Dales should be proud of. ๐Ÿ’™

Good luck to both teams today. If you're looking for somewhere to spend your Saturday afternoon, come down to Mill Street, enjoy some cricket, and support your local club. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ

The U13s made it three wins from three on Tuesday night with victory at Wormelow Cricket Club.

Wormelow won the toss and elected to bowl on an artificial wicket.

Dales opened strongly with Oscar Brotherwood putting some quick runs on the board but wickets fell early with the top 3 departing with just 28 on the board.

Henry & Oscar Burke came in at 4 & 5 and batted with great maturity to steady the innings and ensure that Dales posted a competitive score.

Oscar Burke batted brilliantly before retiring on 30 not out including 5 boundaries.

Harrison joined Henry at the crease and a quick flurry of runs in the final over resulted in us posting 119-3 from our 20 overs.

Dales started strongly after the interval with Archie removing both opening batsmen leaving the hosts on 10-2 after 4 overs.

Further tight bowling spells from the other 9 other bowlers, backed up by some fine catching and positive fielding resulted in the hosts finishing on 59-8 off 20 overs.

Wickets for Zac (1-7), Harper (1-8), Oscar (3-1) & Harrison (1-2) backed up by 2 catches for Archie, 1 for Henry and a fine reaction catch from Harper.

Shout out to Oscar Burke for not only a fine batting performance but also an excellent wicket keeping performance ๐Ÿ‘

Eastnor at home next week.

๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ 1st team match report

The 1s took a very youthful side to Moccas Cricket Club on Saturday, with 5 players aged 19 and under.

Captain Harry Ellis won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Hereโ€™s what he had to report:

โ€œFrom that point on it was the youngsters that were the stars of the show! Cillian(17) was the pick of the bowlers with a superb opening spell, finishing with a thoroughly deserved 4/10, including 2 in 2 balls! Wickets fell regularly, with wickets apiece for Paul, Tommy (15) , Shaiq and Lucas (19). As well as a superb direct hit run out from Abdul.
Debutant Ethan Jones (16) also picked up his maiden 1st team wicket which was caught by older brother, Lucas. We bowled Moccas out for 37 in a superb effort by the team.

The other debutant, George (15), stepped up to open up with Kate. Despite losing a couple of wickets we managed to comfortably chase down the total, with Abdul finishing on 19*.

A good day out for the young lads, and an excellent tea spread provided by the opposition! ๐Ÿ‘Œโ€

A proud day for the club featuring so many youngsters who have progressed through the youth section. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ First Team Match Report ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ

Last Saturday, Dales First XI welcomed our good friends Presteigne Cricket Club to Mill Street on a scorching afternoon.

With regular skipper Harry unavailable, vice-captain Jack stepped up for the toss, which unfortunately went the visitors' way. Presteigne elected to bat first, but Dales made the perfect start as opening bowlers Brad and Cillian struck early to remove both openers.

The wickets continued to tumble throughout the innings, with only Luke Jones and Barty offering significant resistance for the visitors. Dales maintained excellent discipline in the field and shared the wickets around, keeping Presteigne under pressure from start to finish.

Lucas Jones continued his impressive form from last season, claiming four wickets and reaching the milestone of 100 league wickets for Dales in the process. Presteigne were eventually bowled out for 134, a fine effort from the home side in challenging conditions.

Wicket takers:

* Lucas 4
* Cillian 2
* Brad 1
* Ollie 1
* Shaiq 1
* Paul 1

In reply, Dales looked to chase down the modest target, with Jack and Hugh Brookes opening the batting. The visitors' opening bowlers made early inroads, removing Hugh, Abdul and Rob to leave Dales needing to rebuild.

Captain Jack led from the front, combining with Paul to steady the innings and put Dales back in control. Jack fell agonisingly short of a half-century for a well-made 49, but by then the hard work had been done.

Paul remained unbeaten on 41, while Brad finished 23 not out as the pair guided Dales comfortably over the line to secure another valuable victory.

A fantastic all-round team performance saw contributions throughout the side, with Dales taking maximum points ahead of this weekend's trip to newly promoted Moccas CC.

๐Ÿ Congratulations also to Lucas Jones on reaching 100 league wickets for Dales Cricket Club- a superb achievement.

๐Ÿšจ Junior Match Report ๐Ÿšจ

Coach Steve Brotherwood reported
โ€œThe U13s secured back to back wins for the first time this season with an 85 run win over Kington Cricket Club on Tuesday evening.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Oscar got the innings off to a flyer, retiring on 35 off just 16 balls.

At the other end, some tight bowling meant wickets fell at regularly intervals until Frank came to the crease and steadied the ship before eventually retiring on 33 not out from 26 balls including 5 x 4s and a 6 on his first appearance for the U13s.

Late cameos from Archie (8), Harry (14) and Harper (17) added useful runs towards the end of the innings leaving Dales on a competitive 169/7 off 20 overs.

In glorious summer conditions, Dales set about restricting runs early and some excellent fielding applied early pressure.

Wickets fell from the first over with Kington eventually all out for 84 off 15 overs.

Wickets for Oscar (2-6), Henry G (1-12), George (1-7), Frank (1-6) and Harper (2-4).

A good all round performance from the team with further notable mentions to Isla (making her 1st appearance of the season) and Oscar B for fine fielding performances and contributing to a couple of run outs.

Considerable amounts of pizza, sandwiches, sausages rolls and squash were consumed by both teams following the close of play, thank you to the parents for a great spread ๐Ÿ‘

Onto Wormelow away next week ๐Ÿ‘โ€

Thank you to Nic and the Kington team for making the journey over during half term. Some great cricket on show for both teams. Itโ€™s always an enjoyable fixture against his teams. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ
