PSA 📣

Hi there 🙋‍♀️ - I’ve been very quiet on here lately. In fact I’ve not posted all summer 😬

In amongst the chaos of a home reno, which is so all-consuming, we had the most amazing time in Greece (take me back 😭), a really nostalgic holiday in Dorset, and spent all our spare time with family and friends. It’s been a summer for the soul 💕

But - one thing has been missing. Yoga. I had a break from teaching yoga over the summer, and the disruption to my daily routine, combined with moving in to a flat without much space, coupled with going away, also massively affected my home practice.

And whilst I’m feeling refreshed in many ways, not practicing yoga has left me feeling wired, tired and disconnected - my fuse is shorter and my body definitely feels tighter.

And there’s no shame - this is life. It happens. And yes I could pretend that I’ve practiced endless yoga all summer, to entice you to my classes, but that wouldn’t be honest. And in a world of social fakery I’m all about being honest and showing that even as a yoga teacher we go through ebbs and flows.

But all of this to say, I’m so stoked be teaching again AND to invest in rediscovering my own yoga practice.

Take this as a reminder that it’s ok if everything fell apart over the summer and you forgot to take care of yourself. The time to start is NOW. Think of this as your CTA to go for that run, get back in the gym, book some reformer, or more specifically, join me in yoga 😌

Yoga is a practice for longevity, a practice to support your health long term and to help you feel lighter and more at ease in your body and mind. It’s so much more than exercise, I can’t stress that enough!

Feeling disconnected, tight, stiff, tired and wired, overwhelmed, achey or weak, yoga is the antidote to all those things.

And if you’re close to Leighton Buzzard join me in class where I can support you in building a yoga practice that lasts (even if we have the odd practice dip here and there 🥴). So join me…

I have to admit, I’m not exactly a quote kinda girl. A lot of Instagram quotes seem a little…empty.

But every now and again you see a sentence that stops you in your tracks and really makes you think. They just land.

I guess you see them when they resonate with the place you are in right now. What you’ve been thinking about, where your life is heading and what your focus is.

Anyway, these are some that are resonating with me right now.

When your yoga practice stops being purely physical and starts becoming something else entirely 💫

For some, it never extends beyond a good stretch. And that’s ok - the beauty of yoga is that we’re all on our own journey 🙏

But for others, something seems to shift.

You begin to feel differently inside. You notice things you didn’t notice before. You see the world through a different lens. It feels like coming home ❤️

That’s not to say the physical practice isn’t important, it really is, and I’m so passionate about guiding movement 🤸

But - instead of it being the sole purpose to practice yoga, it becomes a vehicle for all the other parts of the practice that connect you to something deeper and nourish you on a soul level ✨

So - has that shift happened for you? And if so, what’s shifted? Let me know in the comments!

There is so much more to yoga than what we do on the mat.

Whilst the poses help us feel really great in our bodies (and they really do), the true essence of a yoga practice has very little to do with movement.

In yoga we have a set principles called the yamas and niyamas.

🌍 The yamas refer to our external landscape – the way we interact with the world around us.

💭 The niyamas refer to our inner landscape – our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and mindset.

Think of them less as rules, and more as a guide to help you live your life with greater awareness. Making more conscious choices and living in a way that aligns with how you want to show up in the world.

That’s why the practice of Svadhyaya (self study) is so important. By learning self-reflection, we can begin to understand those unhelpful patterns that show up in our lives, and make subtle shifts that move us in a healthier, happier and more fulfilled direction.

And that’s why any yoga teacher worth their salt will be subtly guiding you towards greater awareness, understanding and reflection. They create the space, so that you can do the work 🥰

I’d love to know your thoughts. What other ways does yoga show up in your life that has nothing to do with poses?

Let’s be clear – the practice of yoga can’t really be limited to these five simple points. It really is a profound and life-changing practice ✨

But - when I think of the reasons why someone might want to start practicing yoga, these are some of the main benefits you can expect…

🤸 FLEXIBILITY & MOBILITY
Yoga provides ease of movement and a greater sense of freedom in the body. It reduces stiffness, increases range of motion, improves posture and can support prevent injury.

💪 STRENGTH & STABILITY
Yoga builds functional strength – the kind of strength you need in everyday life. It improves bone density, joint health, balance and muscle tone. A strong, stable body means physical longevity.

😴 STRESS REDUCTION & BETTER SLEEP
Sleep and stress reduction are foundational pillars of health. Less stress means lower blood pressure, less tension, improved mental health, a stronger immune system, hormone regulation, injury prevention and reduced anxiety.

💡FOCUS & MENTAL CLARITY
Yoga is a practice of mindfulness. That is, becoming more aware of yourself and the world around you. In time it enhances your ability to focus, improves concentration, brings clarity and builds emotional stability.

🥰 MENTAL WELLBEING
Yoga helps to keep you grounded and centered in a world that often feels overwhelming. It helps to increase self-awareness, building emotional resilience and emotional regulation, whilst helping to boost your mood. Yoga encourages you to build a relationship with yourself ♥️

Yoga really is an integrated whole body practice that focuses on mind, body and soul. It works from the inside out, and is truly transformational when the practice starts to click.

If this sounds interesting, join me in class or book a private session. I welcome every body, age and ability, and will work with you at your own pace to discover a yoga practice that meets you exactly where you are. For those who already practice - what are the most profound benefits you’ve experienced?

5 reasons to join my yoga classes this January... 🧘‍♀️

1. You’ll actually feel better afterwards
Not “I survived that” better — more like “oh, this is where my shoulders live" better.

2. Feel strong, mobile and calm
Thoughtful movement, solid foundations and breathing that makes a real difference to your health.

3. Classes for real bodies on real days
Stiff, tired, stressed, energetic, distracted — all welcome. No flexibility prerequisites.

4. It’s not a performance
No pressure, no pretending, just come as you are.

5. Because an hour for yourself isn’t indulgent — it’s necessary.
Your future self will thank you.

Who wants to practice some yoga this week?

I get it. It’s cold, wet, and you probably want to stay home and watch Celebrity Traitors whilst eating Monster Munch 🤣 Believe me, I feel it too.

But I can promise you this. In the 15 years I’ve been practicing yoga I’ve never once regretted booking in to a yoga class. Never. Even if every fibre of my being has told me to stay home and eat crap on the sofa. I’ve always felt 💯 times better afterwards and it’s gotten me out of many a’ funk.

I live my yoga life by the motto:

✨You never regret attending a yoga class, you only ever regret not attending one.✨

And it really is true.

So if you’re feeling like you wanna stay home, but deep down you know that what your body, mind and soul really needs is some yoga…I got you.

Sometimes when we think we need to crash out and ‘relax’, what we actually need is space, stillness and connection. Oh and a little kick up the butt in knowing that…

🤸‍♀️ Movement is medicine.
🧘‍♀️Stillness is nourishment.
💫Connection is everything.

If this is the sign you needed to book in to a yoga class this week then I’m here to serve you….

Tuesdays - 7:30pm - Vinyasa Flow
Thursdays - 9:30am - Flow Foundations
Both

Thursdays - 7:15pm - Hatha Flow
…and 8:15pm - Yin

Hopefully see you for a gorgeous autumnal practice this week 🍁🍂
