Sunday saw some of our Minis take part in the Mini LB ROX, a fun play on the popular Hyrox Games. We are very proud of every mini who took part.

They ran, pushed, pulled, jumped, lunged and showed their amazing passing skills.

There were great shows of sportsmanship, with everyone cheering their teammates on, with some finishers doing extra running to help their friends get over the line .

A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out on the day, the kitchen team in The Hatch and all of the children who took part, and of course their grown up supporters.

A special mention and thank you goes to our medal sponsor PRS Office Furniture, to Josh at LB Crossfit for running the warm up ahead of each wave and to Samantha Cook Photography for taking photos of the event.

The sponsorship link remains open until 12th June if you would like to reward their amazing efforts.

πŸ¦… HELP US KEEP THE BUZZ ALIVE: VOLUNTEER FOR YOUR CLUB! πŸ¦…

As we wrap up an incredible week of celebrating the heartbeat of Leighton Buzzard RFC, we have a simple question for you: What will your Buzzard legacy be?

You’ve seen a snapshot of the incredible work our volunteers do, but it’s time for the next generation of heroes to step up.

Let’s be completely honest. We are a 100% amateur, grassroots rugby club, no one is getting paid to pull on the blue and white hoops. Every single tackle made by our 1st XV on a Saturday, and every single hotdog handed out to a muddy U9 player on a Sunday, happens because of volunteers.

Whether you are a parent of a child just starting their rugby journey, a former player who misses the Wright's Meadow camaraderie, or a local supporter who loves a pre-match lunch and a pint - we need you.

πŸ› οΈ ROLES FOR EVERYONE (NO RUGBY EXPERIENCE NEEDED!)
You don't need to know the laws of the game to make a massive difference. We are looking for people to help across the entire club:

πŸ‰ Coaching & Refereeing: Help develop the next generation of boys and girls. (We will fully train and support you!)

πŸ₯“ The Sunday Morning Crew: Help run "The Hatch," keeping parents fueled with the finest bacon rolls and coffees in Bedfordshire.

πŸ“Š Admin & Socials Media: Help us manage team communications or create content to showcase our amazing club.

πŸŽ‰ Events & Hospitality: Support our legendary clubhouse social events and match-day pre-match lunches.

🀝 RUGBY IS MORE THAN A GAME
Rugby has the power to make a real, positive difference in people’s lives. When you volunteer at LBRFC, you aren't just giving up your time; you are investing in our 90+ year heritage and building a safe, fun environment for local children.

It truly takes a village to run a rugby club. As we always say: One Club, One Team.

πŸ¦… HOW TO STEP UP

Let's keep the youth flying high and the senior sides strong. Get involved today!

πŸ¦… VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: THANK YOU JAMES BOOTH! πŸ¦…

As we look back on an incredible season on the pitch, it’s time to celebrate one of the most vital, yet unsung roles at Leighton Buzzard RFC. Today, we are saying a massive thank you to a man who bridges the gap between our youth section and senior rugby: James Booth.

James works tirelessly to help with transitioning our Colts (Year 12 & Year 13) into the senior men's environment. It is one of the toughest but most rewarding jobs in grassroots rugby, and James does it with pure dedication.

This year, his hard work has truly borne fruit. We are immensely proud of the huge crop of exciting young Colts who have stepped up into senior rugby this season. Many of them haven't just filled shirts - they have played a massive, meaningful part in our 1st XV promotion under captain James Brett!

πŸ“ˆ FROM FLEDGLINGS TO FIRST TEAM
The journey from a nervous youngster to a senior player at Wright's Meadow is a long one. James ensures that when our boys finish youth rugby, they aren't lost to the game. He creates a welcoming, supportive pathway that embodies our core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship.

Thanks to James:

Our young homegrown talent is successfully transitioning into the adult game.

The future of our 1st XV and 2nd XV is burning brighter than ever.

Our young men are finding a lifelong sporting community right when they need it most.

We are so grateful to have people like James Booth who give up their time because they love the game and care about the next generation.

Seeing a lad who joined the club years ago step out onto the grass on a Saturday afternoon, put in a massive hit, and then enjoy a post-match social with his new senior teammates in our fantastic clubhouse barβ€”that is James's legacy.

🀝 GET INVOLVED & KEEP THE BUZZ ALIVE!
Inspired by James? Whether you want to coach, referee, help out with admin, or flip bacon rolls at "The Hatch" on a Sunday morning, we need you.

Let's hear it for James in the comments below! πŸ‘‡

πŸ¦… VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: THANK YOU KEVIN STREET! πŸ¦…

It's time to shine a massive spotlight on a man who has quite literally shaped the future of our club. After years of incredible, selfless service, this will be Kevin Street’s final season as our Mini and Junior Chairman.

Kevin first turned up at Wright’s Meadow exactly how many of us do, as a proud dad standing on the touchline, coffee in hand, watching his two sons play in the blue and white hoops. But instead of just watching from the sidelines, Kevin stepped up to lead.

For years, Kevin has been the driving force behind our thriving youth rugby infrastructure. It is a massive operation, and he coordinates the whole lot:

πŸ¦… Leading everything from our energetic Fledglings (Reception & Year 1) right up to our powerhouse U16s.

🀝 Marshaling our army of volunteer coaches to ensure every Sunday morning runs safely and smoothly.

πŸ“ž Serving as the administrative backbone and primary contact liaison for youth rugby operations at LBRFC.

πŸ‰ ONE CLUB, ONE TEAM
We say it all the time, but Leighton Buzzard RFC is a club completely run by volunteers. We have no sugar daddies and no boot money, just a pure, unadulterated love for the game and our community.

Every muddy Sunday morning, every post-match hotdog, and every smile on a young player’s face from Greenleas to Cedars Upper is a testament to Kevin’s hard work. He embodies our core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship.

Kevin leaves behind a monumental legacy, having created an environment where local kids can build lifelong friendships, stay fit, and learn the power of being part of a team. To put it simply: Kevin, you are an absolute Buzzard legend. Thank you for everything you have done for the next generation of players.

πŸ’¬ LEAVE YOUR MESSAGES!
Let’s give Kevin the send-off he deserves! Drop your favourite memories, thank you messages, and well wishes in the comments below. πŸ‘‡

And remember, if you've been inspired by Kevin's journey from touchline parent to club leader, we are always looking for new volunteers to step up and keep the youth section flying high. Get in touch to see how you can help!

πŸ¦… VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: THANK YOU CLAIRE LONG! πŸ¦…

Behind every great tackle, every muddy Sunday morning, and every pint poured at Wright's Meadow is a army of incredible volunteers who keep our club running. To mark volunteers week we will be shining a spotlight on the efforts of some of our legion of volunteers.

Kicking off, we want to say a massive thank you to Claire Long.

Claire is our Safeguarding & Welfare Officer and a vital member of the club. She works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Leighton Buzzard RFC remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone - especially our thriving Mini & Junior sections.

Ensuring our player safety compliance is locked down and staying abreast of safeguarding best practice in rugby union, Claire embodies our core values of Teamwork and Respect. She works hand-in-hand with Glen George on safeguarding matters as well as all our fantastic Mini and Junior coaches and first aiders to make grassroots rugby happen week in, week out.

We are a club completely run by volunteers - no sugar daddies, no boot money, just a pure love for the game and our community. People like Claire are the absolute heartbeat of LBRFC!

πŸ“ž NEED TO GET IN TOUCH?
Whether you have a safeguarding query, a welfare question, or want to raise a general club matter, Claire and the team are always here to help:

🀝 GET INVOLVED!
Inspired by Claire? We are always looking for more helping hands to join the Buzzard family, whether it's coaching, refereeing, helping out at "The Hatch" on Sunday mornings, or joining our social Touch Rugby sessions on Wednesdays.

Drop us a message or visit our website to see how you can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your club!
