Another busy weekend ticked off for the team. Over in Belgium 🇧🇪 at -Heist70.3 Toby Jardine and Simon Zacharzewski took on the 70.3 race in blustery conditions 💨. Simon was back in race mode after a little time away. A sub 6 hours for was a great result for both! Well done gents 👏.
Up in the beautiful we had Ian Bisby , Jonny Radcliffe .pugh and Jon Moon take on the THE ROC . A slight tweak to your standard with a 1500m Swim 🏊🏼‍♀️ in Lake Windermere followed by a 46km Bike 🚴🏻‍♀️ then a “Run” up and down Englands highest peak on ⛰️ with a return bike back to the start. 3 of the team are talking the final part of the trilogy up in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 early next month 😎. Finally, a lot closer to home we had Anita and Michelle Bailey Obsessed with Travel have a great 10k race with our friends at Leighton Fun Runners all finished off with traditional cake!🍰

Congratulations Chris on a brilliant 🥉 podium position IRONMAN Triathlon . A prolific competitor and super chuffed at bagging the podium position after many Ironman races. The challenge of the swim leg being cancelled did not deter the outstanding performance.

In 🇩🇰 Copenhagen we had a first time (of many we’re sure) iron man in our Niamh McMillan a methodical trainer under the guidance of Ian Hanson Niamh smashed her race and is already planning the next one! Well done from us all at the club

Also in 🇩🇰 was Nick, not his first IronMan, but another member whose training block has been spot on. Even needing a new Trek Bicycle Company just a few weeks before the event didn’t deter Nick.

Next stop on our whirlwind tour…. IRONMAN Estonia in Tallinn. With the main training block in 🇬🇧 being in the peak ☀️😎🌴 , the first thought for Connor Farren was for some cooler, maybe damp conditions. What none of us expected were monsoon conditions 🌧️ 💨 described by many as unraceable! Great job in the circumstances Connor and we look forward to your next race this week 😉 🇦🇺

In 🇹🇷 we had Gaynor Wallace and Gill Sharman take on the Bosphorus Cross Continental Swim. Swimming the Bosphorus between the 2 continents 🌍 of Europe and Asia. A fantastic bucket list challenge for two of our dedicated club swimmers 🏊🏼‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️

A little closer to home a couple of our members took on a more social 🚴🏽 ride around the Isle of Wight. The only race here was to make the ferry, lap the island and get the ferry back to the mainland. Well done both

Race Days are the results of weeks and months of training. We’re so proud of all the results our team achieve week in, week out, but what goes on behind the scenes is not lost on our athletes. On Mondays were at stantonbury leisure centre for a great session on the . We swim at on a Tuesday and at the new Leighton Leisure and Community Centre on a Thursday, with Sunday sessions through the winter Bletchley Leisure Centre . Wednesday is with a mix of Social Rides, Intervals, Hill Reps or 10 Mile Efforts we’ve also a thriving parkrun UK community on Saturdays and finally, Sundays we’re out on between racing. All this can’t be done without our amazing British Triathlon qualified coaches. If you’re thinking of giving Triathlon a go, drop us a line for a trial session at [email protected] 🏊🏼‍♀️ 🚴🏻‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️

Hot off the Press 📰

Huge congratulations to Beth Ellen for completing the 13 Mile Swim 🏊‍♀️ at Vidösternsimmet in Sweden 🇸🇪- none of us at the club can comprehend that distance for swimming!!! Amazing effort 💪

Also a huge shout out to Lauren Keeler and husband Ollie who, along with spanswick complete the - all reported great swims and bike legs- with the run brining a particular challenge in the current heat wave ☀️ across the UK
Great work all - hope you’re enjoying well deserved rest 💤 and recovery 🍻

We’re getting used to our new home Leighton Leisure and Community Centre . Leaving our home at Tiddenfoot was hard, but like all the other clubs in we’ve adapted well. New club routes and a great new pool facility have made our Thursday a joy!

A great day yesterday Box End Park with Go Beyond Events Bedford Relays. A fantastic team event, with teams of 3 completing . We were a little depleted with some untimely illness and a few club stalwarts on Summer Holidays. We still managed to get a solid 3rd 🥉place in the Mixed Vets category 👌. Congratulations to all the clubs that took part, and a huge thanks to all the Marshalls out on the course making the event super enjoyable. . Thanks also to Adrian Howes for the great photos

We’re settling into our new home nicely! Great to try out new run routes from the newly opened Tiddenfoot LC (Leighton Leisure and Community Centre) with the midst of the summer ☀️ heatwave 🌡️ we had easy sessions out this week and had a great mid run conversation on running theory led by running coach Paul.

Sometimes it’s hard to sum up how hard our team train and how dedicated the club is in supporting each but back in December after a few 🍻 and 🍷 the idea came that going to Outlaw Triathlon in would be a great idea. One by one, they signed up getting to 30 (nearly a third of our club) but then came the reality of the HOW.? A huge thanks to the coaching team led by Ian Hanson and Brian Wright and all our coaches to get a 16 week training plan executed by 30 athletes at varying levels of experience using TrainingPeaks . Race day came and everyone did amazingly well. We had winner in Chris Leech 🥇 and Clare Hodges came third 🥉 . So many PB’s and standout performances to mention, we also had a birthday for Niamh McMillan which I’m sure the team helped her celebrate post race 🎂 . Well done team and thanks to everyone at Holkham for a great race 🖤💚 #70.3
