Phoenix and Troopers have jumped on the ChatGPT “back to the 80s” trend… and apparently all it takes is short shorts, magnificent hair, a slightly questionable tracksuit and a team photo that looks like it’s been living in someone’s loft for 40 years. 😂📸

No GPS vests.
No Veo cameras.
No WhatsApp groups.
No parents asking what time kick-off is when it’s already been posted three times… 😏

Just orange shirts, black boots, muddy knees the magic sponge and a bucket of dirty water and coaches who look like they’ve come straight from an episode of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. 🤣

To be fair… the Leigh United orange absolutely works in any decade. 🧡🖤

⚡️ Astley Bridge Blacks vs Leigh United Lightning ⚡️

A great competitive game today against last year’s Chairman’s Cup finalists — it’s always a good battle when these two teams meet!

Despite the rain, every player fought for every ball and showed fantastic spirit and determination. 💪⚡️

At times we played some really attractive, fluid football, and if we continue to show that attitude and togetherness, we’ll make it difficult for any team we face.

⭐️ Special mentions today:
Ronnie-diniho at left back was like a machine! 🔥 His attitude was absolutely spot on from start to finish earning himself MOTM.

👏 Well done to Owen on his first league goal — a nicely taken free kick!

⚽️ And well done to Andy for another nicely taken goal — great finish!

A special mention too for Louie for some excellent forward passing and for constantly demanding the ball and looking to make things happen.

Brilliant effort from everyone today. ⚡️🖤🧡

🧡⚽ FULL-TIME | TROOPERS 0-5 Ladybridge ⚽🖤

A tough wet morning for the Troopers in relentless rain, with Ladybridge Lions taking the points.

The scoreline didn’t really reflect the contest, but Ladybridge’s pace on the break punished us whenever we lost our shape.

There were still plenty of positives, with Zac leading by example with a proper captain’s performance and getting parents player trophy 🏆 , Reuben got moment of the Match with steely determination, and Jack making some important saves.

A special mention too for Evie, who made her 100th Leigh United appearance — the first Trooper to reach the milestone! 💯👏

Not our day, but plenty to learn from and we go again. 🧡🖤

A real goal fest for Blast today in some very difficult weather conditions! 👏⚽️

There was some fantastic passing, brilliant attacking play and plenty of determined defending, with both teams creating lots of exciting moments.

Most pleasing was the way the players worked together, kept going and supported each other throughout the game. 💪🧡

Loads of goals, loads of smiles and plenty for the players and coaches to be proud of as they continue to learn and develop.

A massive well done to everyone for their effort, teamwork and attitude today. 👏🖤

🧡⚽ *100 LEIGH UNITED APPEARANCES!*⚽🖤

A brilliant milestone today for Evie, who made her 100th appearance for Leigh United Troopers! 💯👏

We started recording the players’ appearances back at U9s, when the team made the move into 7-a-side football, and Evie becomes the first Trooper to reach the 100-game mark.

From those early days through to the team they are today, that’s a lot of Saturday mornings, muddy pitches, training sessions, tackles, wins, defeats and memories along the way! 🧡

Evie has been a fantastic and committed part of the Troopers throughout that journey and reaching 100 appearances is something she should be really proud of.

Congratulations Evie — Trooper #22 and now a member of the 100 club! 💯🧡🖤

What a start to the season for the Giants! 👊⚽

The lads showed loads of fight, character and togetherness against a strong Bolton United side, producing a fantastic team performance from start to finish.

⚽ NEW SEASON. WINNING START FOR TROOPERS. 🧡🖤

Leigh United Troopers kicked off the new season with a hard-fought 3–2 win away at Hindley Town Vikings.

Hindley struck first, but the Troopers responded brilliantly. Oscar levelled from distance after good work from Archie, before Tom put us ahead with a superb individual goal — driving past the right-back and calmly finishing into the far corner.

Hindley made it 2–2 early in the second half, but Jack was outstanding in goal, making six saves including a couple of huge one-on-ones.

At the other end, Elsa threatened with powerful shots and dangerous corners, Reuben and Charlie worked brilliantly out wide, while Harley gave us real control in midfield. Oliver, Evie and Zac were excellent at the back, making a number of vital tackles and interventions.

Then, on 52 minutes, Tommy drove at the Hindley defence and found the finish to put us 3–2 ahead.

The Troopers dug in through the closing stages and held on for a fantastic opening-day victory.

⚽️ New season underway for Leigh United Dynamite U8s! 🧡🖤

Dynamite travelled to Atherton Town Asteroids for their opening game of the new season and faced a very strong start from the hosts.

The team knuckled down, worked incredibly hard for one another and grew into the game, producing a really strong final 10 minutes. There was plenty of determination, teamwork and resilience on show — a great way to build confidence so early in the season.

👏 Reuben was GOAT of the Match after an energetic performance full of effort and some excellent tackling.

⚡️ Great first game back for the Bolts vs Cherrybrook Rangers

A brilliant first game back today! The boys defended really well and showed their usual strength, determination and togetherness. 💪

Our goalkeeper made some excellent saves, while the defence put in a strong display to keep the opposition at bay. 🧤👏

We scored first when a lovely piece of play created space on the left, followed by a well-taken finish! ⚽️🔥 The boys fought hard for the goal and celebrated it together — great to see that team spirit!

We controlled the game well for most of the match, but a little lapse in concentration in the final six minutes allowed the opposition back into it.

We pushed for another goal right until the end, but unfortunately couldn’t get it over the line.

There were some lovely moments of skill, passing and teamwork throughout the game, with plenty of positive contributions across the team. 👏

A really positive performance from the boys, with lots to be proud of. Well done, Bolts! ⚡️🧡
