The Mighty Panthers took to the field one last time after a jam packed 2025/26 season as they travelled to our great friends at Rochdale for a season finale festival. Missing a few big hitters, Leigh still turned out 3 solid squads who were more than up to the task.

Joined by Mold, Huddersfield, Eccles, Oldham, Blackburn and the hosts the Leythers saved some of their best Rugby until the season end. The passing on display was outstanding with the ball regularly moving through 7 or 8 sets of hands before being rewarded with a try. The opposition coaches were hugely complimentary about the Panthers physicality and skill levels.

Big Tom F and Toby R shared the Top attacker award. 2 great lads who always deliver that go forward momentum for their team, both were rewarded with some great tries.

Zachary A worked tirelessly all day, making tackle after tackle, his attitude is always spot on as he rolls up his sleeves and gets on with the job. Top work!

Player of the week was shared between Ethan L (winning it for the 2nd successive week!) and Buddy K. Buddy had his best try scoring week of the season helping himself to 4 cracking tries and bringing his A game all day. On Ethan, we’ve simply run out of compliments for the lad. Never will you see a player work harder on a rugby pitch with relentless defence and barnstorming running. Well done both boys!

A thank you to Rochdale who were impeccable hosts and their volunteer referees who officiated with proper Rugby values at heart all day 👏🏻

As we bring the curtain down on a phenomenal season, we will have time to reflect and celebrate this amazing group of players in 2 weeks at our presentation. The coaches are immensely proud of every single player and sure do have their work cut out when deciding the individual trophies with so many incredible children to choose from.

10 years of Mini & Junior rugby comes down to one last game before the step up to Colts.

7 of this squad have been Cobras since U7s — a decade of commitment, friendship, and memories.

One more push. One more performance.

🏆 CHAMPIONS 🏆
Your Under 14’s Girls ‘Gleigh’ (no that’s not a typo…) team are the Lancashire & Cheshire Challenge Bowl winners.

Our amazing U14s girls joining forces with our friends from Glossop again today. The girls, who decided to refer to themselves collectively as Gleigh have ended the CB Challenge Cup unbeaten, winning the Bowl! 🏆

Not bad for a first season of competitive rugby. Here’s to these girls continuing to challenge themselves next season 💪🏻

After a long Easter break, the Mighty Panthers were back in action on the penultimate weekend of the season as they travelled in force to Wilmslow festival. As always, Wilmslow hosted superbly and there was a real party atmosphere in the Sunshine. There was loads of new opponents with great clubs like Macclesfield, Helsby, Wilmslow, Sandbach and Congleton all proving great tests along with the more familiar faces at Oldham, TMV and Glossop.

From the first whistle, Leigh came out firing and it was great to see that no rustiness had crept in during the 3 week break. The passing was arguably the best it has been all season with players hitting the ball at pace and moving it from wing to wing. Awesome stuff!
Defence as always was rock solid with more try line scrambles than the coaches could count!

This weeks hat trick heroes were Finley, Bobby G, Charlie, Bobby B, Dexter, Issac, Finn, Rupert, Toby M-A, George, Fraser & Tommy. In short, there were boat loads of tries scored 👏🏻

The very heavily patched up Top Defender award went to Rupert L. He tackled his socks off in every game with textbook technique and power. Superb!

Alfie F really stood out on his pitch and delivered unquestionably his best performance of the season. A great attitude, some brilliant runs and also countless tackles.

Player of the week was shared 3 ways because why not, it’s a festival! George H waltzed past defenders in every game, Ethan L’s work rate was mind blowing and Bodhi G was on fire with some strong carries and rock solid tackling. All 3 contributed in different ways to an awesome Pink Panthers team performance.

Final game of the season next week as we travel to our friends at Rochdale for one final festival hurrah!
