Sign our petition to save Ski Sunday!

Before social media and streaming, there was Ski Sunday. For many of us, it was our first glimpse of the mountains, the World Cup circuit and the thrill of snowsports.

This week, the BBC announced it would not be commissioning Ski Sunday after nearly 50 years on our screens.

At Snowsport England, we see every year how people progress from watching elite athletes to getting involved themselves, whether that's joining a club, taking part in competitions, learning new skills or becoming members of Snowsport England. Visibility matters. Inspiration matters.

As Chemmy Alcott, four-time Winter Olympian and former Ski Sunday presenter, says "the biggest worry is the next generation not seeing the mountains on TV, not hearing the stories, not believing that they can be part of our amazing community".

Let's inspire the next generation in the same way. Sign our petition to bring back this iconic TV programmme: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-bbc-s-ski-sunday-television-programme

Molly won yesterday’s Australian/NZ Cup slalom at Mt Hutt, and even better, scored 16.15 FIS points, her best score of her ski career so far. ❤️

Congrats to 🇨🇭Aline Danioth & 🇨🇭Amelie Klopfenstein

A great reward for all the hard work she’s been putting in, and hopefully plenty more of this to come! 🤞🏼

🏆 50 YEARS OF THE ALL ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS! 🏆

What a weekend in Norfolk! ☀️🎿

The 50th edition of the All England Championships brought together racers, coaches, clubs, families, volunteers and supporters from across the country for a weekend of racing, celebration and community.

Five decades of competition, memories and achievements made this year’s Championships extra special, with fantastic racing across all age groups and categories. 👏

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the weekend happen. We were also delighted to celebrate alongside John Shedden, who founded the All England Championships 50 years ago and whose vision helped establish this event as a cornerstone of the racing calendar.

🎉 To mark the golden anniversary, every competitor received a special edition 50th Anniversary Annual, signed by Dave Ryding.

👏 Congratulations to everyone who raced, coached, volunteered and supported the event — and a special well done to our overall podiums:

🥇 Women’s Overall: Abigail Putman
🥈 Antonia Watson
🥉 Amelia Whitehead

🥇 Men’s Overall: Toby Watson
🥈 Marley Ward
🥉 Jonathan Eaves

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the 50th All England Championships a weekend to remember. Here’s to the next 50! 💙

You’re never too old to start skiing ⛷

We love this story shared with us by Snowsport England member and FIS Telemark World Cup athlete Jasmin Taylor

Jasmin met Snowsport England member John Aldridge at The Snow Centre Manchester. He first learnt to ski at 73, took up telemark at 80 and is now still skiing at 84!

And it doesn’t stop there… John’s son, Michael “Mick” Aldridge, learnt to ski at 46, took up telemarking at 51.

A brilliant and inspiring reminder that there’s no “right” age to start skiing, try something new or set yourself a new challenge. Whether you’re 4 or 84, there’s a place for everyone in snowsports ⛷️
