Unlike many traditional barbell or dumbbell movements, long-duration isometrics holds expose weaknesses almost immediately, as they make any compensations painfully obvious. Ever heard your coach cue "keep a tight back" on a bench press? Try an isometric press up in the bottom position and you'll understand the concept pretty quickly, the same can be said for a squat or static lunge. Incrementally increase time exposed to the 'hardest' position of the movement. The science:
"Physiologically, LDISOs are paramount for building the musculo-tendon, musculo-fascia, and neuromuscular structures. Targeted long duration isometrics re-educate the tissues to target optimal fascial lines to establish neural networks. The LDISO attacks the origin and insertion points in the extreme lengthened position. The thickening of these points increases the durability and elastic response. Psychologically, this increased exposure to time (in the “weakest” joint position) builds a tolerance for discomfort and “slows” things down enough for the athlete to garner familiarity with proper position and posture".
Want to really get the best bang for your buck? Try slowing down the eccentric phase into a LDISO! Train smart during lockdown. DM for programming.

Keep things simple and master the basics. There's no better time than now to work on mechanics and basic movement patterns. Please note this was filmed months ago.

hitting his 2020 target with a true 1RM. Also an interesting case study using ..... after potentiating we worked our way up the following rep progression 3,3,2,2,1. On second set of 3 at 130kg Spencer felt very sluggish (polar opposite to what vbt told us) he racked weight we talked through speed of bar 0.59 m/s as an average throughout set. After explaining we were way off target and a few coaching cues Spencer and I decided there was way more in the tank as it was more 'mental' than 'physical'. Long story short we hit a single of 180kg an absolutely astonishing achievement for Spencer, he executed the plan perfectly and with the help of vbt we were able to get real time feedback taking the guess work out.
