I know that my kids spend more and more of their time living sedentary lives staring at a screen. This despite studies suggesting that young people should spend at least half an hour each day being active. Boxing can be an excellent way for your kids to stay active and give them something productive to do after school.

Here are some benefits you will notice when your kids start boxing:

Set Goals
Kids learn how to set goals for themselves. Accomplishing small goals can make kids feel great. In boxing , kids are shown how to overcome challenges. All progress is noted and rewarded with recognition, and your kids do not have to win a tournament to feel good about achieving goals.

Focus
Boxing requires intense concentration. It is physically demanding but also tests kids’ mental strength. This can improve kid’s attention in the classroom and improve academic success. Children who are physically active tend to concentrate better when facing challenges.

Install Respect
Boxing teaches children to respect authority and their peers. Trainers teach self-respect and encourage kids to hold their head high at all times. Good sportsmanship is instilled early on and is a valuable lesson for kids to learn throughout their life. Boxers understand the importance of winning and losing gracefully.

Build Confidence
Giving young people positive affirmations helps them develop better self-esteem. Telling children you believe in their abilities sets them up for success. It helps them stay motivated and builds character knowing they can persevere through tough situations.

Social Development
While boxing is an individual sport, it still gives kids the chance to meet other kids. They may also get the opportunity to travel for tournaments, which gives them the chance to go somewhere new. They meet kids from different backgrounds and cherish memorable moments.

Discipline
One of the most important lessons kids learn from boxing is discipline. This sport demands mental and physical strength. Kids overcome challenges that strengthen their character. They learn to respect the time and follow the rules. Boxing changes a kid’s behaviour for the better and improves their mental focus.

Educational
Boxing sharpens kids’ problem-solving skills and teaches them about health and fitness. They appreciate the importance of a healthy diet because of how it will improve their performance in a match. Trainers teach proper form, which prevents injuries and young people remember these tools throughout their lives.

3 Reasons Why You Should Perform Cardio After Lifting 1. Helps With Muscular Recovery. Researchers at California State University in Fullerton found that if you performed a moderately intense session of cardio on a stationary bike for 20 minutes after strength training, it speeds up the recovery time of your muscles. This is because when you do cardio, it increases blood flow which in turn helps rebuild damaged and sore muscles quicker by removing waste products and increasing their supply of valuable nutrients. 2. Can Increase Your Appetite. We all know you have to eat big if you want to get big. But what about those of you who can barely get enough food without feeling like having to throw up? Well light sessions of cardio actually seem to increase ghrelin, the “hunger hormone” which will open up your appetite and help make reaching your calorie goals for the day easier. Note that you should be increasing your protein and calorie intake anyways just to be safe and protect your body from cannibalizing your muscle while doing cardio. 3.improves Insulin Sensitivity. Studies suggest the more cardiovascular exercise you get the more it improves your insulin sensitivity. Improving insulin sensitivity is a good thing especially for “hardgainers” (people who just can’t seem to put on any muscle, think the ectomorph body type) because being resistant to insulin — meaning your body doesn’t respond well to the hormone as seen in diabetics — discourages muscular growth and encourages fat storage. So that means by doing cardio your body will become better at absorbing the nutrients you eat and using them to build muscle rather than keeping them as fat. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Positivity Is Power

With any sort of task you take up, having confidence in yourself to complete it is key, especially when it comes to losing weight! Learning how to believe in yourself will help you to be more successful on your fitness journey, whether you believe that it’s going to be hard work then it manifests, and everything you do there after becomes more of a chore. A great way to look at it is that exercising your body is a celebration of what your body can do and not a punishment for any reason.

If you find that you are overweight and with age that isn’t changing, it’s time to give yourself a kick up the backside, don’t give yourself the easy excuse of your age, don’t give in! Weight loss for people over 35 is VERY possible and with time the efforts that you put towards it every day add up to countless benefits in the long (and short) run. So get out there, get active, get yourself some confidence and allow yourself to change your life around for the better. You’ve got this.

Build Muscle And Improve Body Fat Percentage

The best way to lower your body fat percentage is yes, you guessed it, build muscle! Your body composition should be your main focus, so make sure you know how to check your body fat percentage. Build Healthy Habits

Another key factor to losing or maintaining weight is building healthy habits. There are numerous bad habits that you probably don’t even realise you do that jeopardizes your health. For example, not drinking enough water can affect your memory, mood, and motivation levels, which isn’t that surprising when you consider that 60% of the body is made up it! Make sure you’re being mindful of your daily habits and start building better ones to improve your overall health.

Use Functional Training To Your Advantage
It’s no question that when we gain weight we become less active and mobile. An easy way to combat this and what researchers encourage is to increase the amount of daily activity we do. This is where functional training comes in, functional training can be described as exercises that help us to perform daily activities more easily. This in turn burns more calories through our non-exercise activities, making it easier for you to stay lean.

Aerobic Exercise
Getting your heart rate up with some aerobic activity should be near the top of your list when trying to improve your fitness and slim your waistline. Keep in mind that the amount of time spent performing aerobic exercise solely depends on your goals and your current health status.

Recommendations based on these two factors can vary anywhere from 150 minutes to 250 minutes per week.
When it comes to how long you should workout for that is totally down to you, there is no best method to approach this. Everyone reacts differently to physical activity and what works for one might not necessarily work for another, it is always good to have a mixture of workout lengths in your plan, this helps to keep your body from becoming used to the same routine.
