Children's Pickleball classes will be coming to The Rally Hub 🔜

☺️ A friend once asked me,
“Why do you spend so much money so your daughter can play pickleball?”

I just smiled.🙂

Because the truth is…
I’m not really paying for pickleball.

Honestly, the paddle, the tournaments, the court time — that’s not what I’m paying for.
So what am I paying for?💸

I pay for those evenings when she’s tired after school… but still grabs her paddle and heads to the court.

I pay for the days when she misses an easy shot, feels frustrated, wipes her tears… and chooses to try again.

I pay for the lessons she learns when a match doesn’t go her way.

I pay for her to understand that improvement doesn’t come from winning — it comes from showing up again and again.

I pay for the discipline it takes to practice the same shot hundreds of times until it finally feels right.

I pay for her to learn patience… because not every point is won with power — sometimes it’s won with control, strategy, and calm.

I pay for her to learn how to be a teammate — to celebrate others, encourage them, and lift them up when they struggle.

I pay for her to learn humility in victory and grace in defeat.

I pay for the friendships she builds across the net… the laughter between games… and the memories made under the lights of the court.

I pay for her to learn confidence — the kind that only comes from doing something hard and refusing to quit.

I pay for her to believe in herself.

And maybe most importantly…

I pay so she spends her evenings on a pickleball court — chasing a ball, learning life — instead of sitting alone in front of a screen.

So if you ask me again why I spend the money…
The truth is simple.

I’m not paying for pickleball.

I’m paying for the life lessons this game is quietly teaching my daughter.

Lessons about effort.
Respect.
Resilience.
Friendship.

Lessons she will carry long after the last match is played.

And to me…

That’s worth every single penny.

🎾 Proud moment for Leicestershire tennis… and a big opportunity for local children🎾

Hi everyone – I’m Edd, Head Coach at Syston Northfields Tennis Club, Founder of Rise Up Racket Sports, and I’ve just been named LTA Midlands Development Coach of the Year and reached the National Finals of the LTA Coaching Awards (winner to be announced in April).

I was also National Runner Up in 2022, so it means a lot to be recognised again for helping develop young players across the county.

Over the past 12+ years coaching in Syston, I’ve helped many children progress to County and Regional level. The exciting news is that I’ve just opened a brand new indoor racket sports centre near Syston called The Rally Hub (Beeby, LE7 3BQ). With the addition of indoor courts, I am now looking to specialise in mini tennis, working with players aged 2–9 years, where confidence and love for sport really begin.

With the weather we get in the UK, having an indoor space for tennis development is a huge advantage for young players.

It means:

✔ Sessions don’t get cancelled because of rain
✔ Children can progress faster
✔ Beginners can start in a fun, relaxed environment

We still coach outdoors at Syston Northfields Tennis Club in the warmer months too, so we can have the best of both worlds.

Exciting news from The Rally Hub 🎾

Our founder Edd Whetton has been selected as a National Finalist for the LTA Development Coach of the Year 2025 award.

The awards will take place at the National Tennis Centre in April, recognising coaches across the country who are making a difference in grassroots sport.

The Rally Hub was created to bring multiple racket sports together under one roof and give people of all ages the chance to play, learn and enjoy being active.

From tennis and pickleball to padel, badminton and table tennis, the aim has always been to create a welcoming place for the community to play.

This recognition reflects the amazing support we’ve already had from players and families who are helping make The Rally Hub something special.

A throw back to when founder Edd came runner up out of 500 nominatioons in the 'LTA coach of the year' award. Edd has recently won the LTA Tennis Leicestershire stage and will now go through to compete against other winners in the Midlands. Fingers crossed he can get to the National stage again.

Last night founder won the Leicestershire coach of the year 2025 award at the LTA awards. Edd will now go through to the regional stage. This was presented by chair umpire James Keothavong.
