At Athena, our ambition is to create a women's volleyball club that is friendly, fun, exciting. We want to make volleyball THE sport in Leicester by engaging with schools, communities and clubs. Saturday, Leicester Athena ran their first ever coaching seminar. It was a chance for the coaches in the club to come together and learn from the magnificent Henryk Latomy. This will become an annual event as we seek to double the number of coaches we have, improve the technical understanding of our coaches and create an ‘Athena way’ of playing volleyball. It was a brilliant session with players and coaches learning so much. Thank you Henryk.

Brilliant day of volleyball on the first day of our annual summer tournament. Today, it was the women’s competition with eight teams battling it out. Congratulations to who won the trophy (despite only having six players). Huge thanks to Ada, Mary and Sarah for organising it all.

We’ve arrived! This weekend saw the end of a very long journey as we move into Huncote Leisure Centre and we celebrated with a launch event organised by Blaby District Council Active Blaby - from training and playing in three venues we now have a HOME a place where all of our teams will come and share and grow. Thank you to Volleyball England, Sport England, DYNAMIK Sport and Blaby DIstrict Council for your incredible efforts in making this thing happen ❤️❤️❤️

Well, our secret project is officially out 🤫

Leicester Athena is moving into a new home 🥳 🏐

We have been quietly working on this project for just about a year and we've been honored to have excellent partners working together throughout, most importantly from Volleyball England and Blaby District, in order to make our dream become a reality ✨️

Whilst investments into our new home are continuing in the coming days, including brand new flooring being fitted by Dynamik Sports Flooring, we are preparing to move all of our equipment across.

It has been our dream for the past 10 years to have a permanent home, and we are excited about the future now to have all of our teams under one roof 💥

Leicester Athena will be running a three-day volleyball camp on Monday 3rd August to Wednesday 5th August from 9 am until 12 midday. The camp is designed for beginners and we will aim to give your daughter a great introduction to the basic techniques of volleyball.

The camp will take place at De Montfort University’s QE2 Leisure Centre on Duns Lane, LE3 5LX. The camp will cost £60.

What a great way to finish the season. Representatives from all three of our junior teams got together for a mammoth 4 hour session. Lots of fun, confidence growing and some good volleyball played.
