The DMU Saints are De Montfort Universities hugely successful cheerleading squad, who were appointed BEST CHEERLEADING SQUAD IN THE EAST MIDLANDS 2012-2013. The team competes nationally in various accredited competitions such as; BCA, UKCA, Future Cheer and ICC. VARSITY - We cheer at the Football and Rugby Varsity games which are held at the King Power Stadium (home to Leicester City) and Welford
Road (home to the Leicester Tigers) which is a great chance for us to showcase our talents. In 2014 we held the first official varsity with rival cheer team the Leicester Panthers, in which we WON EVERY CATEGORY!! PERFORMANCES AND CHARITY EVENTS - The Saints are also well known for their contribution of performances to the University throughout the year. Seeing them perform at Welcome Weekends, Matriculation ceremonies and Two Royal Visits in the year 2012/13 for The Queen, Kate Middleton and Prince Edward - at the official opening of the Universities new Leisure center. We take part in Numerous charity events across the year contributing massively to the Union itself by supporting other teams. SOCIALS - Every Wednesday we all go out together and enjoy ourselves on social, take part in games, fancy dress and dance the night away! Cheerleading has come a long way from the all American teen films and stereotypes, the Saints do not just wave poms poms. Cheerleading is a skill, built up around energetic routines of stunting, tumbling, jumps, dancing and pyramids.
