Gracie Barra Leicester’s Newest Blue and Purple Belt! 🙌🟦🟪

Congratulations to both and Ma Zi who both got promoted last night. Very well deserved 👏

I am extremely proud to tie a blue belt around this young mans waist. He has been with us for 4 years now and what a journey it has been!
A quiet, unassuming, very humble young man who came to us as a 13yr old who needed some confidence and self defence to deal with a couple of issues (we’ll call them that) he was having at school. Will dived into training, with amazing support from his mum who has sat for hours in the chill out room whilst Will did multiple classes a day!
At 17yrs old Will is now a very proficient martial artist, with multiple Muay Thai, and BJJ comps under his belt. He is a great and valued member of the Team and family, and still a very humble young man.
He did deal with the ‘issues’ he had at school very efficiently, I am proud to say.

Another extremely deserved belt promotion this evening for Adrian - a purple belt this time. This guy works night shifts, trains, works in the day, trains, studies, trains, and still finds time and energy most weekends to find a comp to enter. He has come a long way, is a very respectful and valuable member of the Team, always taking time out to greet all whenever possible and show respect always. Through hard work, Adrian has improved himself and his Jiu Jitsu and is a problem for most on the mats now. Well done brother, keep grafting.

GB1 Fundamentals Gi:

Professor George going through a sequence from closed guard last night in our fundamentals gi class. Working on guard breaking to double under’s to finish with a stack choke or pass.

Our Fundamental gi class is on every Monday & Thursday at 19:00!

🔺Kimura From A Defended Sit Up Sweep:

Posting from the sit up sweep is a very common way to defend and prevent it.

Attacking the kimura provides a great solution to this as your partner/opponent leaves the posted arm vulnerable and exposed. The kimura its self is a highly effective submission when applied correctly and can be executed in a very controlled manner.
