Hi everyone!
So this is a bit of a late message but I want to tell you about a really exciting event we have coming up in December!
We’ve been asked to join DMU Rowing in their annual winter ball along with DMU Barbell and Lacrosse, being held at the Belmont Hotel on the 4th of December.

Tickets are £30pp which include a 3 course meal as well as a DJ all night, and as always plus ones are more than welcome, old spokes you’re also welcome if you’re around!

Once you’ve bought tickets please let us know asap so we can send you the link for picking your food.

Hi everyone,

Welcome back, or to DMU if you are new this year. We just wanted to let you know about the things we have going on this week.

We're holding taster sessions this week for both circuits and spin classes. Circuits will be this monday (30th of september) at the QE2 building from 8pm-9:30pm, and spin will be on thursday (3rd of october) also at QE2 from 8pm-9:30pm. Make sure you bring water and your DMU student card, and we will see you there.

On Wednesday we're holding our first proper social back, the theme for this week is s**t shirts (there will be an event put up will all the information). The night will be started at Fat Cat's at 8:30pm and we'll be selling tickets for SU throughout the night, make sure you bring your DMU student card out as well as your normal id and we can't wait to see what s**t shirts you guys pull out.

After recent incidents of past weeks, I think it's best you know what to do if you ever find your self in a similar situation and how to best avoid those sorts of situations?

To avoid them, please don't walk in poorly lit areas because they are more likely to be there than in those that are well lit. Try and avoid showing off your phone your wallets and purses because it can make you a target. Carry as little cash as possible and as few highly valuable items.

If you need to get back home stick to the campus for as long as possible. Try and walk home in groups. If that isn't possible try and get a Taxi or an Uber the cost of one of those is minimal compared to being attacked. If you can walk in a pair to someones house/flat and then don't feel safe going back to your own ask to stay the night.

In the event of an attack, it is important you do not do anything rash or uncalled for. This may sound like a bad idea but just hand your stuff over, at the end of the day your personal safety is the priority. Personal belongings can be replaced you cannot.

If you do happen to be attacked and threatened I urge you to either contact DMU Security by phone: 01162577642 or by Email: [email protected] I would also urge you to to contact the police as soon as possible. If don't report these things there is nothing that can be done by the police or the university themselves.

Here at DMU Cycling we are proud advocates of breaking the mental health stigma!
1 in 4 adults experience mental health issues. We can help this by looking after ourselves, eating well, exercising and taking time out.
But look out for your friends too, be intuitive to their feelings and listen when they talk.
