Introducing our coaching Team for 2025-2026 academic year.

Sam is an experienced powerlifting who has competed both nationally and internationally for the university. He offers 1-1 coaching online and will also act as a head coach for the team during team training and at regionals & BUCs.

Ellie is a national level lifter who previously competed at BUCs last year & is looking to reach the junior and BUCs comps in 2026. She has plenty of experience and is doing her Level one British powerlifting coaching qualification later this year. Ellie will be running female only taster sessions & then taking on the role of BUCs captain offering support throughout the year for all our lifters.

This week we had Ella Brincat-Smith compete at the Bench World Championships in Drammen, Norway. She managed to secure a silver medal on the international platform. This was an amazing achievement and someone to keep an eye on within the club!

This weekend we have 2 lifters competing at the British University Championships.

In the u52s we have Ellie Makin making her debut at BUCs. Ellie is our previous chair and women’s captain and will be competing Friday morning at 10am. We are really excited to see what she puts together!

In the 83s we have our current chair Sam Walker who is looking to secure his spot to the university world championships in Turkey. Competing at 3pm Saturday.
