LGS Stoneygate Founded in 1856, LGS Stoneygate is an independent co-educational day school in the Leicestershire countryside.

Educating ages 4–16 from Early Years to Senior School, we offer small classes, strong pastoral care and a nurturing, family-centred environment. We are located in the rural setting of Great Glen in Leicestershire. The key to our success has been our dual focus on achieving high academic standards through properly structured and resourced lesson time, whilst providing extra curricular opportunities in the performing arts, sports and other leisure activities.

🎉 Celebrating 170 Years of LGS Stoneygate!

We are delighted to be opening LGS Stoneygate’s 170th anniversary celebrations with a special service at St James the Greater Church, Leicester, on Friday 25 September 2026 at 2pm.

This special occasion will bring together current and former pupils, parents and staff as we celebrate our school’s rich history and the generations of people who have helped shape the LGS Stoneygate we know and love today. 💙💛

We would especially love to welcome back as many of our alumni as possible to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate this incredible milestone with us.

The children have settled in so brilliantly, arriving with big smiles, curious minds and plenty of excitement for the adventures ahead. We couldn’t be more proud of how confidently they’ve embraced their first day.

Our Throwback Thursday takes us back to some very special moments from our The Sound of Music Drama Showcase! What an incredible display of acting, music, and creative talent from our pupils. With back-to-back performance evenings, it's safe to say the production was a huge success! 🌟

A huge congratulations to every pupil who dedicated their time, energy, and passion to bringing this magical production to life. Whether you were performing on stage, creating costumes behind the scenes, helping with hair and makeup, or coordinating the sound and lighting, your teamwork and commitment truly shone through in the final result. 👏🎬🎤

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff who supported and guided our pupils throughout the process. Your dedication, encouragement, and hard work helped make these evenings so memorable.

At Leicester Grammar School Trust, our thoughts are with the families and staff affected by the recent news concerning a local school.

We understand that this will be an unsettling and uncertain time for many children and parents.

Although our summer term has now ended, our Admissions team will be available throughout this week to support families who are exploring educational options for September.

We educate children aged 3–18 and currently have places available in most year groups across the Trust. We are committed to making any transition as smooth and supportive as possible, taking the time to understand each child’s individual needs.

Our Year 11 pupils certainly knew how to make an arrival at this year’s LGSS Prom, kicking off a truly unforgettable evening filled with laughter, celebration and memories to last a lifetime.

Mrs Mills' Year 2 pupils had a fantastic day at Cadbury Dairy Milk World, where they explored the fascinating history of chocolate, enjoyed a thrilling 4D experience, tasted some delicious treats and even wrote their names in melted chocolate.
