THE HONEST FIGHTER AND THE HONEST COACH.
The best athletes and coaches in all sports have one bond that the whole relationship is built upon …..Honesty.
An Honest fighter knows when they could have done better, when they are simply going through the motions, when they are not giving it all and when they could have pushed further.
We expect the honest fighter to make mistakes but be willing to have them corrected, to be accepting of being pushed past their limits, to lead by example and to know that they can look in the mirror with integrity because of this.
Karate is unique where you get the cameraderie of a team sport, the buzz of a team session but at the end you compete on your own, 1 versus 1 …..open, exposed, nowhere to hide so you got to be honest with yourself because your The Man In The Arena*
As coaches you get pure honesty from us, the sessions aren’t always sparkles and rainbows, your not always at your best ever, always giving your all and always going that bit further.
An honest coach works with you, gets the best out of you, pushes you both mentally and physically so that when the successes come ….we can look in the mirror with integrity.
So think and ask yourself ……”Are you an honest fighter?”
You’ve wasted 5 mins reading this another 5 reading The Man In The Arena won’t hurt , google it. 😉
