Keep up to date with the latest goings on with the De Montfort University Ultimate (frisbee) Team

De Montfort Ultimate Club was founded in 2004 and has enjoyed an active build up from those original Demons giving them and their successors the opportunity to get involved in a sport based on fair play and respect of other competitors. The club has always enjoyed itself on and off the field, with success on the field seeing some silverware and off the field seeing some fantastic nights out and ot

her social events, being a member of the club has brought many people close together over the years. Ultimate is a mixed sport allowing men and women to compete on the same playing field in a competitive, friendly environment. It is played in three disciplines, Indoors, Outdoors and Beach. The club has now teamed up once again with the local residential club, Red Leicester Ultimate Club to help it to grow again. Red have players who have been playing for decades and the club has produced numerous National players who have gone on to play at World Championships. They are a very friendly, sociable club as well and are looking forward to the challenge of bringing the next generation of talent through the ranks as well as putting people through their paces on the social scene.

We hope everyone is keeping safe and doing well! Congratulations to everyone who has graduated, well done for the amazing achievement.

As the academic year comes to an (official) end we turn our attention to the prospectus students who’ve just finished college. To who we also congratulate and hope they got the results they were hoping for!

With 4+ trainings a week, 10+ tournaments a year, BUCS competitions and plenty of socials on offer there’s something for everyone wanting to be part of something.

Double D... what a weekend! Demons came out fighting for this one. With no tournaments since BUCS we were eager to get on the pitch and play together.

It was so good to see the improvement from when we last played competitively and work together like a proper cohesive team, and as mentioned many times to us over the weekend, you wouldn’t believe we’d only been playing together as a whole for 5 months!

Well done to everyone who played ❤️

Personal highlights from the weekend:

-Joey’s pin point hammers to the end zone
-Holding our own, matching some of the best teams there point for point
-Learning how to work through a zone as we went along and finally finding our rhythm
-Playing Irish snap (brain teaser 3000) for 2 hours
-Lucy’s somewhat ‘unique’ snoring
-Xanthe’s mad safe hands... and using the jumpy/knife/endzone catch drill we taught her on the Saturday night
-Ashley breaking the sound barrier on the motorway
-Aruns excessive consumption of bananas
-A certain little someone winning the favourite player award 😏
-Theo executing a 98% perfection pull rate compared to my 3% success rate

All in all a marvellous weekend ❤️

Big well done and thank you to the all the women playing at NBWIN today (Nottingham beginner women's tournament). Despite an interesting start to the morning with a bit of mountaineering, I think everyone played really well and there was a definite improvement throughout the day.
Xanthe was catching anything and everything that was heeded at her/ to her.
Ebitimi was a solid player especially in our zone defense, having a crack at some positions she hadn't tried
Dips had countless assists popping the disc over her mark with a sneaky overhead.
Monique was great at evaluating the options and figuring out if she needed to swing the disc to the dump handler or push the disc up the pitch.
Ashley played amazingly as both a cutter and a handler, able to cycle in and out of the dump handler position when needed.
And finally Hannah had the biggest achievement of all and ended up damaging her ankle within about 20 minutes of arriving at the venue.
We used a mixture of match and zone defence resulting in 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss placing us 2nd over all!!! I hope you all enjoyed today as much I did! I can't wait for the next women's tournament.

Huge well done to Xanthe, Arun and Joey for getting up nice and early for this morning’s park run! I’m super proud of you guys for coming and hopefully you enjoyed it 🤷🏼‍♂️

We also found Rossi, Baby and Neil there and had a big RED / Demons photo!

Everyone is welcome tonight to help us win the soar point pub quiz. We will be meeting at 18:30 at highcross spoons for some drinks and we will leave a bit before 20:00 to win the 20:00 quiz. We would also like to invite our guest of honor Brian King to come help us face the difficult questions we will face in the quiz. See you all there!!

Good morning you frisbee fanatics! I hope you’re all having a delightful thursday and things are going your way!

We have outdoor training tonight with RED at Nelson Mandela park at 7:30 - feel free to meet me at the SU steps at 7:15 for a thrilling, guided tour to the park!

Despite being colder, windier and sometimes quite a lot wetter than indoors, outdoor frisbee is extremely useful for training overall throwing ability and fitness as the bigger pitch and tougher conditions really force a more considered play style. Coming to outdoors will improve you 10 fold compared to if you ONLY attend indoor training so please do come!

Looking forward to seeing you all later and remember to bring football boots if you have them!

We had a tournament this weekend in Loughborough. Great effort from everyone and amazing team work. Everyone improved throughout the weekend. It was a great experience especially for the freshers this year that played really well in their first tournament and won the spirit award for the beginners bracket. What a great start of the year. Thanks to Harrison, Ella and Sasha for coming today and helping us.
