Another standard service complete on this great Dawes mountain bike. Drivetrain cleaned, brake blocks replaced all round, new front brake cable and I think you'll agree that the chainset looks amazing. Customer informed of a few issues identified, including a stretched chain and noisy rear hub bearings. Total price, including parts, £45..

First standard service completed. In that service i replaced the brake blocks that were really worn and a rusty brake cable. The tyres were perished and needed replacing and the bike was given a quick clean, check, de-grease and l**e.
Prior to that I changed a tube a few days before. The total bill including parts came to £69.98. To put that into perspective, a standard service without parts in some bike shops will cost you £70. Thanks Dave for your custom. A great little bikes to work on.

First job completed on my new business venture on this little frog 48. Great little bikes. Both brake cables replaced and brakes adjusted. A quick once over and after identifying a stem bolt missing, popped a new one in, tyres inflated, chain l**ed and she's good to go.. Get your bikes booked in..

Picked this up the other day. Needed new pads fitting to the front brakes and a new gear cable to the front derailleur. Would have been simple but the pin has seized in the caliper. Doh. Great bike though. Nothing i couldn't fix.

Okay, I've been holding onto this page for a while now with a view to starting my own little cycling repair service from my garage. I've finally bitten the bullet and have decided to advertise to see what interest there would be.
I've been a keen cyclist since I was a teenager, I'm now 43 and have always serviced and repaired my own bikes. I'd even strip them down and start again.
I've noticed that cycling repairs and servicing are increasingly more expensive so I'd intend to try and keep my prices as low as possible as my over heads are minimal but obviously I can't do it free. The only sticking point is that I can't get a supplier as yet until I know what parts I'm going to need a regular supply of. I'd intend to buy the parts locally and charge a minimal percentage to cover fuel costs.
I'd cover things such as cable replacement, basic repairs, brake pad replacement, chain replacement and basic servicing among other things but I'm happy to answer customer queries. I'd even offer just a cleaning and lubrication service. I can't bleed brakes or service suspension yet. If I build up a customer base, I'd want to do a pick up and delivery service for customer convenience, but can't do this until I have a foot hold in the area.
I recently started a cycling mechanic course but it was so basic I stopped doing it as I could do most of it anyway and it was an expensive course. If there was a decent customer base, I'd quit my part time job and concentrate on this with a view to doing my cytech qualification.
I'm sure I've missed something, so if you have any questions at all, get in touch and I'll try and answer them.
Thanks for reading.
Alistair.
