The recipe called for steel, bolts, cables and a bit of magic.

Crap at cake baking but great at gym equipment 😉

The glute ham developer is a rack attached GHD machine that fits 75mm racks or columns with either 1” or 5/8” (16-24mm) holes.

It’s easily flat packs for storage and is a super sturdy alternative to a fixed machine that requires a large foot print (and let’s face it becomes a clothes horse!)

It used to be about perfecting every rep, finding perfect alignment, assuming pain meant an imbalance that needed to be fixed…

But for me—and especially after turning 40—it’s all about consistent reps, smart recovery, and giving each muscle group enough rest to keep progressing while staying injury-free.

Thinking about weekly volume, not random sessions.

More importantly, I’ve found that the key is fitting accessory work into the main programming without it interfering with the main lifts and movements.

Using the right tools makes a huge difference too. Cable Machines, Parallettes, Ab Slings, and a GH roller have made accessory work much more efficient and enjoyable.

What training style has helped you stay consistent and keep progressing over the years? Let us know.

Learning a few basic rope-flow movements with a rope that costs less than £30 can be a game changer for shoulder health, mobility, posture, and injury recovery.

For us, it has been an incredibly effective tool for reducing head and neck pain that stemmed from scapular dysfunction.

Start by mastering simple patterns in both directions:
• Forward movements — think throwing or reaching actions.
• Backward movements — think swinging a bat or rowing.

Unlike skipping with a flow rope, you move with the rope rather than against it. This encourages smoother movement patterns, improves coordination, and helps retrain how the shoulders, scapulae, and upper body work together.

Simple, accessible, and surprisingly effective.

Most home gyms are built around barbells, dumbbells, and cardio equipment—but one of the biggest missing pieces for long-term CrossFit progress is a quality cable system.

The Plate Loaded Dual Cable Setup from Forte Fitness Equipment changes that.

Instead of filling your space with multiple machines, this compact setup gives you the ability to train strength, stability, hypertrophy, and injury prevention from a single station. Whether you’re working on stronger pull-ups, more efficient muscle-ups, improved overhead stability, or simply building the muscle needed to move heavier loads, cables open up training options that traditional home gym equipment can’t match.

The real advantage is versatility. From single-arm rows and face pulls to tricep pushdowns, lat-focused work, rotational core training, and shoulder prehab exercises, you can target weaknesses that often limit performance in CrossFit. The dual independent cables also expose left-to-right imbalances, helping build strength that transfers directly into Olympic lifting, gymnastics, and functional fitness movements.

For athletes training at home, progress isn’t just about adding weight to the bar. It’s about building a stronger, more resilient body that can handle greater training volume while staying healthy.

If you’re serious about taking your home gym and your CrossFit performance to the next level, a dual cable setup could be one of the smartest additions you make.
