🛶 An extra night of CPD, canoe rescues & LOTS of laughter! 😂

Tonight some of our brilliant Wild Women volunteer instructors gave up an extra evening to come together and practise their canoe rescue skills — because being confident about what to do when things don’t quite go to plan is all part of developing as an instructor.

We practised different rescues, worked through scenarios and, of course, explored what happens if you actually end up in the water! 🌊😂
There was teamwork, encouragement, a few very wet moments and honestly… I haven’t laughed so much in ages!

What a brilliant way to learn and develop together — building skills, confidence and trust while having a proper giggle along the way.

A huge thank you to Paul for being our safety eyes on the water and keeping watch just in case our practice didn’t quite go to plan! 👀🛶

🌅 Tuesday Night Social Paddle 🛶

Last night the ladies had a rather unusual start to our Tuesday night paddle, making way for the lovely Ganesh Festival celebrations.

But that didn’t stop us! Once we were on the water, the fun continued, with plenty of paddling, chatting and laughs as we enjoyed the evening together.

And what better way to finish than paddling until the sun finally set? 🌅💦

🔥🌲 Wild Women Bushcraft is back! 🌲🔥

Our first 3rd Tuesday of the month bushcraft session has started!

Huge thanks to Cheryl and Tamsin, who got us started tonight with the basics of fire lighting. The ladies then got hands-on melting wax and making their very own pine cone fire starters. 🪵🔥

A little bit of fire, a little bit of bushcraft and a lot of Wild Women learning new skills together.

Who knew pine cones could be so useful?! 😍

🌿🔥 Wild Women getting survival ready! 🔪💧

This weekend, LOPC hosted the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Bushcraft Competency Award, It was a weekend of getting stuck in and learning the essentials:

🔥 Fire lighting & management
🥘 Food and cooking outdoors
🪢 Knots and practical skills
🔪 Safe knife use
💧 Water filtration
🌲 And plenty of time learning to be more capable and confident outdoors.

From Forest School practice to volunteering, and simply wanting to feel more prepared, resourceful and resilient, there were lots of different reasons for being there — but one thing connected everyone: a willingness to learn.

We love seeing women building practical outdoor skills, sharing knowledge and discovering just how capable they are. 💪🌿

This week, 8 young people came together around the fire — chatting, laughing, sharing stories and simply enjoying being outside. 🔥💚

Sometimes it’s not about having a big activity planned. It’s about having a safe space to get outside, meet new people, build friendships and just be yourself.

There’s something pretty special about being outside on a crisp winter evening, watching the lights reflect on the water and sharing an adventure with friends.

🌊 TUESDAY NIGHT SOCIAL PADDLE 🌊

With our SUP course getting underway, some of us were forced to try a new craft tonight… 😂

And WOW — what a reminder that learning never stops! New craft, new skills, a few wobbly moments and plenty of laughs along the way. 💜

There’s something pretty special about learning together, encouraging each other and simply enjoying being outside.

And what an evening to be on the river! ✨🌅
