Fliers 1–1 Panjab Hawks
Fliers win 4–2 on Pens

The 1st round of the Cup this morning saw us take on Panjab Hawks from Tier 1.

Facing a team from 2 leagues above ourselves, we were expecting to be put under a lot of pressure but it was us putting the pressure on in the early stages of the game and we took a deserved lead inside 10 minutes, the Panjab defenders clearance fell to Hanna and she hit a low drive that squeezed under the keeper to get her first goal for the club.

We continued to create plenty of chances without putting any away and the missed chances came back to haunt us as Panjab got an equaliser before HT.

The 2nd half saw us create loads more chances but for some poor finishing and a couple of good saves from the Panjab keeper the score remained level. Panjab did hit the bar with almost the last kick of the game.

The team held there nerve and deservedly won the shootout to send us through to the next round.

Today's player of the match was Elison. An all action midfield display, worked his socks off all game, helped break up the play and was always a threat going forwards. The only thing missing from his performance was a goal.

Fliers 4–0 CTK Junior's Blue

An excellent performance from the team this morning who started there league campaign with a well deserved victory.

Olly opened the scoring with a good finish after a lovely ball from Max sent him through on goal before Tianna doubled our lead with a rocket into the top corner. Thea made it 3 before HT with a great strike from distance which was too powerful for the keeper to hold on to.

We continued to dominate in the 2nd half & we didn't have to wait long for our 4th of the game, Olly beat his player out on the right before his cross eventually dropped to Elison on the edge of the box and he calmly slotted the ball into the corner with a lovely finish.

A bit of a different challenge tonight as we faced a team from the age group above to help give us a physical test.

Our 2 best chances came right at the end of each half where we should have really scored but overall a good game against a decent team as we get closer to the start of the season.
