Ever finished a run and looked down and thought…
Why am I turning into a Smurf? 🥶💙
This is Raynaud’s.
Not just cold hands. It's fingers that won’t work to undo a clip and open a zip. Skin that turns white, blue, red and grey. All in one go.
These photos are post run then post shower.
Because warming up too fast doesn’t fix it. It can mean swelling, bruising and even more pain for longer.
It’s a constant cycle. Too cold, no circulation. Too warm, overheating and sweating. Then straight back to freezing again.
When I stop moving, that’s when it really hits.
So I’ve learned to be ready the second I finish. Dryrobe or outdoor Kudd.ly waiting in the van. Warm hat, extra gloves and the ability to change out of damp clothes straight away, even if it’s freezing.
I love being out there. It's who I am and what I do - running, canicross, canihiking and walking. That’s not going to change.
So I adapt, I plan and I work with my body, even when it fights me.
Some days I get it right. Some days I don’t.
But I’m not giving it up!
If you deal with Raynaud’s or anything similar, I’d really love to hear from you 💙
What actually helps? What doesn’t?
