🟠⚫️ Holme Rovers Black U14’s 1–9 Methley United U14 Whites 🔵⚫️

A long away trip for Methley this morning, but the lads certainly made it worthwhile with a fantastic second-half performance to run out 9-1 winners! 👏

☀️ A lovely sunny morning greeted both teams, and the game started in an evenly contested fashion, with end-to-end football and little to separate the sides. It was shaping up to be a close one!

Holme broke the deadlock on 7 minutes with a powerful header from a dangerous corner. However, Methley responded almost immediately, with Dylan finishing after a fantastic cross from the right by Charlie to level things up.

Holme enjoyed a spell of pressure midway through the first half, but Methley still carried a threat. Teddy struck the post, while Blake forced a good save from the Holme keeper.

Lucas put Methley ahead on 29 minutes to make it 2-1, before a dangerous Holme break on 33 minutes saw them beat the keeper, only for Noah F to produce a brilliant goal-line clearance! A huge moment that ensured Methley went into the break with their noses in front.

🔵⚫️ Second half was a different story!

Methley came out with real energy and intent, and it didn’t take long for the pressure to tell. A corner from Corey was tapped home by Dylan on 40 minutes to make it 3-1.

Straight from the restart, Methley won possession and, after a goal-line scramble, Dylan was on hand again to complete his hat-trick on 42 minutes! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

With Methley now firmly in control, another Corey corner provided the assist for Noah H on 47 minutes, before Dylan produced a lovely backheel finish just two minutes later to make it 6-1.

Seth added the seventh on 52 minutes, and Dylan grabbed his FIFTH of the morning on 56 minutes before being given a well-earned rest after a superb performance! 🔥

There was still time for Noah H to complete the scoring on 61 minutes, rounding off an excellent team display and sealing a convincing 9-1 away victory!

🏆 Players of the Match

⭐ Coaches’ Player: Dylan – Five goals and an outstanding attacking performance. What a morning!

⭐ Opposition Coaches’ Player: Blake – An energetic and committed display in the middle of the park. Well deserved!

A fairly even contest in the first half turned into a dominant second-half showing from Methley. Credit to the lads for their response after going behind, their work rate, and the quality of football they produced after the break.

👏 Well done to both teams, and a big thank you to Holme Rovers for hosting us.

The u11 Panthers continue to impress and their team ethic and attitude stood the test against very good opposition today. It was a nostalgic sleepy start from our Panthers which put them on the back foot very early. Heads dropped for a short period but hats off to them for rallying and finding their A-game again.

Shout outs to Matilda whose energy and passionate defending in the quiet spell really lifted our game and to some very classy passing from Grace and Annie.

Another two goals from Alice today 🤩 and some great clearances from Penny 💪

Great stuff girls. Goooooo Panthers ❤️🖤❤️
