Nail that convo pace! ⤵️

The most common thing I see in beginner runners is going to hard too soon and ending up with aches and pains or worse an injury.

👣 When we first start running the most important thing is building up time on our feet sustainably. We are ploughing ourselves into the ground step after step, so when you go from zero running at all, to someone looking to run a couple times a week, we need to build tolerance to the impact running has on our lower body.

🚦 Running ‘easy’ is less impactful overall. Running fast harder on the body.

😓 At the beginning all your runs will feel hard, so the way we can know if we’re running easy is using the ‘talk test’

💬 Count out loud to 10 or have a yap with a mate. If you’re not gasping for breath then you’ve nailed it. If you are, slow down.

⌚ Heart Rate zones and pace don’t matter when you’re a beginner. Make peace with that from the off and nail that convo pace and you’ll build a sustainable running habit. The speed work can come later! Build the tiime on the feet first.

📺 One of the coaching videos that gets viewed the most in my app is how to nail your conversation pace. I give all my Club, Crue and AAA members access to this resource, so if you decide to work with me or sign up to a program, you’ll get this alongside it.

👉🏻 DM me ‘PACE’ if you’d like me to send you the link to my coaching and program offers.

Here we go again 🫪

POV: your ADHD thought it was a good idea to sign up for another marathon next year, but your autism remembers the final month of the training block from 2025 🙄

If you’ve entered a marathon next year and you don’t have a scooby where to start when it comes to structuring your runs and fitting in some strength training, DM me “marathon” and I’ll send you my online coaching info so we can make sure you smash it and get over the finish line in one piece 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

It seems weird of me as an inclusive coach to say ‘I think everyone can train 4x a week no matter what’ but I generally think it is possible for most folk, when the expectation of what a training session consists of, is realistic as opposed to idealistic.

➡️ If you leave the house at 7am and get in at 7pm getting to the gym is HARD, that is a LONG day especially if you do it 5 times a week. So for you it may feel impossible to do 4 gym sessions, and you might be reduced to being in the gym on a weekend?

👀 But what if instead of aiming for a full 60 minute gym session, you got up 15 minutes earlier and did a bodyweight or dumbbell circuit before getting ready for work?

💡 Or what if when you get in at 7pm instead of sitting down straight away and chillin, you did 20 minutes at home and then showered and hunkered down for the night to chill and eat?

🧠 When we take the expectation away of what a strength session HAS to be, we make room for what it CAN be, which is… anything you want that you can fit in around your life.

👏🏻 This is why in my Crue and AAA coaching services, my team all have options in the app that are quick to smash out. Quick bodyweight, quick dumbbell only, quick gym. So if they’re in a bind but want to get some extra in, they can without it having to only be in the form of a trip to the gym.

🙋🏻 If you could do with some more flexibility and structure like this to build a consistent workout habit, this is the exactly thing I have helped hundreds of people do. So head to my bio to check out my coaching options, and feel free to DM me if you have any questions or want to chat about getting started with me!

I built a protein and calorie calculator that doesn’t gender you, that works in ranges and that also doesn’t give people in bigger bodies obscenely high protein targets.

It’s free for everyone to use in exchange for an email address, and takes 2 minutes to pick a goal, an activity level and get a starting range if you’re wanting to start tracking food.

It’s not perfect, but based on the calculations we have for energy expenditure so far it’s pretty spot on, so it will give anyone a baseline to tweak from.

As a trans masc person on low dose T, I found it wild this didn’t exist yet, so I put my questionable coding ss to use and smashed it out.

Any questions, give me a shout!

PS if you are looking for an inclusive coach and a wholesome online fitness community, you’ll probably be a good fit for my coaching, so feel free to drop me a message if you’d like more info! 🧡

Struggling to actually do the thing?

Often we can have the plan we can have even schedule time to do our workout, but we still actually struggle to take action due to overthinking and letting that get in our way of actually showing up to start a session.

When we get a bit wishy washy and start worrying that we might not have enough time or maybe it’s not the perfect time or you feel like you’ve got something else you might need to do or you’re not sure if you left knee aches a little bit, sometimes it can help just to cut this process off before it can even start.

Sometimes we just actually need to be less mindful and prompt ourselves with “don’t overthink, just do”

Mindfulness can be great for so many things, but overthinking the logistics of a workout is not one of them.

When we’re less wishy washy and just take action in that moment, a workout gets ticked off. It doesn’t matter about if you did it all, or if it wasn’t perfect, because the alternative is it just gets skipped.

Save this for next time you’re flip flopping between to go or not to go gym, and if you need some structure and someone that has your back to get you there, my coaching options are in my bio!

Did you get in? 👀

If you’ve never really done any long-distance running, you entered the London Marathon on a whim and you found out you got in today. Firstly, congratulations. Secondly, I’m very jealous because I didn’t get a place, but here’s a few tips to get you started if you have little to no running experience.

➡️ The main thing that I want people to take from this is that lots of different style fancy workouts for a beginner aren’t necessary. You can literally start with a simple couch to 5K programme and do a tonne of easy running. Get that in the bank, get lots of time on your feet for the first few months, and that’s going to give a really solid foundation. Do a tonne of volume straight away, build up very steadily, and don’t forget to strength train.

🧡 If you’re feeling a bit unsure of where to start, I have a tonne of beginner run programmes and strength programmes in my Crüe membership, an inclusive fitness hub that helps people go from very little training experience to being someone who can confidently run and train sustainably as part of their everyday life.

🔗 If you need a bit of a hand, head to the link in my bio and check out crew, or you can even apply to work with me one-to-one.

Love you!
