Akashi Shotokan Karate Club was Established in August 2011 by Glenn Riley Sensei (6th Dan), who has been many times British Kata Champion. Glenn is also a graduate of the gruelling WTKO Kenshusei instructors Course (under Richard Amos Sensei). We have 2 venues in the Leeds area covering Chapel Allerton, Meanwood, . ate Alliance ( GB) . Akashi Shotokan has grown into one of the Largest, and most successful Dojo in the North. We have a great reputation for our excellent tuition, and for housing many World and European Champions. We cater for the complete beginner, and have many families training with us. Akashi Shotokan are one big Karate family, and all who join us are made to feel welcome from day 1! Karate is for everyone, and our eldest member is 73 years of age, and a black belt! We take members from the ages of 4yrs of age, no upper age limit!

Born on this day in 1935 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Asai Sensei grew up in the difficult years surrounding World War II, and began his martial arts journey with Judo before committing to Karate. Known for his speed, evasive footwork and fluidity, Asai Sensei went on to become one of the most innovative masters in Shotokan history. He later founded the Japan Karate Shotorenmei, continuing to share his distinctive vision of the art.
