Do you want to be a part of one of 2027’s biggest sporting events? 🚴‍♀️

Back in January, Leeds was confirmed to host the start of stage one of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift on Friday 30 July 2027. And today organisers have launched a drive to recruit volunteers who will play a crucial role for when the world’s biggest women’s professional cycle race comes to the city next year.

Volunteers, known as JOY Makers, will receive training for a range of roles, including event operations support and spectator engagement. Applications are open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no previous volunteering experience required. Volunteers aged between 18 to 25 will also be eligible for a Readiness to Work scheme, which will provide employability skills training and career mentoring across multiple sectors.

Kippax Leisure Centre will be hosting a STA Swimming Teacher Qualification course and we need additional lessons for our new teachers to teach, so we are offering these lessons for just 50p!

The additional lessons offer a great opportunity for your swimmer to work on their strokes and skills. Due to the smaller group sizes and the opportunity to attend multiple sessions your child can benefit from intense learning which will improve their swimming ability.

Please note that the non swimmer lessons , may take place in a slightly deeper area than normal at some time slots. The teacher will be in the water to support these swimmers. The non-swimmer lessons are suitable for age 4+

For those sites with pools, the swim times for the August Bank Holiday are now available on the website and the app as they're part of the summer timetables.

‌Please be reminded there will be no Aquatics/Gymnastics/Tennis lessons on this date.
