Proud doesnโt even begin to cover it. ๐
Cup Final heartbreak for the girls yesterday, losing to a last-minute goal after giving absolutely everything.
We dominated the first half, creating chance after chance and playing some brilliant football, but went into halftime only 1-0 up. The opposition found an equaliser in the second half and it became a scrappy battle right to the end before they managed to score a late winner.
Football can be cruel sometimes, but this team should hold their heads high. Every single player gave everything for the badge, for each other, and for the team.
What makes this group special goes far beyond results. After the game, everyone spent the evening together celebrating an amazing season โ and that says everything about this team. The friendships, togetherness, support and memories weโve built mean so much more.
So proud of every one of them.
An amazing season for Rothwell Town U11 Girls ๐
Joint Coaches Players of the Match - Maisie Walker & Emily Bailey
Maisie Walker
A tremendous performance from start to finish, playing the whole game with her heart on her sleeve and showing real determination in every battle she faced. Maisie won the majority of her duels across the pitch and constantly drove the team forward with some brilliant balls out through the wings, putting Rothwell on the front foot time and time again. A hardworking and influential display that fully deserved the recognition.
Emily Bailey
Emily worked tirelessly from the first whistle right until the very end, never stopping her runs and constantly causing problems for the opposition defence. She linked play brilliantly with some excellent balls into her teammates to create opportunities throughout the game. To top off a fantastic display, Emily showed great instinct and composure to get her left foot around a stray ball and guide it in off the post for a well-earned goal. A superb all-round performance full of effort, quality, and determination.
Opposition Player of the match - Leela Peat
Leela covered every blade of grass up and down the pitch, showing incredible work rate and determination throughout the entire game. She caused Bradfordโs defence problems all match with her intelligent runs in behind and created some brilliant chances for her teammates with her attacking play. Another player who never stopped running from start to finish, and although she was unfortunate not to get herself on the scoresheet, her contribution to the team was outstanding.
